'The wife of an Illinois judge was arrested and charged with fatally shooting her husband, according to Illinois State Police.

Megan Valentine, 44 of Albion, was arrested Tuesday after the body of Illinois Second Judicial Circuit Court Judge Michael J. Valentine was found outside of a home, per a news release from police.

She was charged with first degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated domestic battery, according to court documents filed in Edwards County Thursday.

The Edwards County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in Albion Tuesday at around 12:14 p.m.

"Upon arrival, an ECSO deputy observed the body of Michael Valentine laying outside the residence," police said, adding Megan Valentine was then taken into custody.'

'A woman who abducted and sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl has been jailed for breaching a court order.

Phoebe Pearce, 25, from Newport, groomed the schoolgirl, who was aged 14 at the time, after meeting her through Facebook two years ago.

She was warned off by the teenager's mum but Pearce lured the girl away from her home to have sexual activity with her while she was on police bail.

A court heard Pearce texted a friend saying the girl was "youngish but I don't care".

In September 2022, Pearce admitted grooming, abduction and sexual activity with a child at a Cardiff Crown Court hearing.

Judge Jeremy Jenkins said the relationship "quickly turned into a sexual one".'

The Bad Sisters actor, 54, parents a teenage son, Brendan, with her ex-husband James McAvoy, who she met on the set of the British comedy-drama Shameless.

Speaking about bringing up a boy and the discourse around young men, she told The Observer Magazine: “I think the rhetoric around it is frustrating sometimes. Like, I don’t love the expression ‘toxic masculinity’, because masculinity is a describing noun, isn’t it? Is all masculinity toxic? It’s like saying, ‘pathetic femininity’.”

She added: “My worry is that there are a lot of young boys who think it’s innate.”

Duff then pointed to “a very sad story” a friend had recently told her about a 13-year-old boy they knew who was having counselling because he thought there was an inevitability about him becoming a rapist.

“We have to be so careful with our young people,” she said.'
