"Vagina Monologues" draws protest
posted by Matt on 11:46 PM December 26th, 2004
News Linucs writes "According to the Oregon Daily Emerald, the 'Vagina Monologues' drew protests. What kind of protests? Get this: 'In flyers handed out to audience members at the show, University graduate Nicole Sangsuree Barrett wrote that while there was `diversity` in the show, it was minimal. Women of `a variety of skin colors, body sizes, abilities and gender expressions were not adequately represented,` she said. Maybe women are underrepresented in this diverse, multicultural, inclusive process, which will lead to dialogue and facilitates emancipation from the patriarchy-made race-based stereotypes that may hurt sensitive and oppressed women.'

At last, I see the light..."

The complaints of women like the one is this article are like a call to action to chivalrous men. How long will it take us to stop this nonsense and start treating women as equals?

Feminism in general reminds me of an animus projection to use a Jungian term. This phrase describes a woman who is possessed with the idea that all of her problems are a result of her male partner and it is her duty to correct him. In an animus projection the woman usually uses SHOULDS and SHOULDN'TS as a means to get this job done. The finger pointing is rampant and it is very hard for even the most mature of men to be able to stand up to this kind of crap. Most of us turn tail and run by dissappearing into some other part of the house or finding an alternative interest (drugs? hobbies? other women?)

Our forefathers knew very well how to handle this sort of thing. They would SAY NO! This is something our legislators have failed to do. They continue to say yes to any nutty idea and plea from women. This is like a weak parent who says yes to demanding children just to keep the peace.

This same dynamic is carried out in our relationships. As men we need to treat our women as equals not children. We need to say no when it is the right thing to do and not run.

Enough is enough.

Actually i see it even funnier... Vagina Monologues is really an all woman thing.. and they are so PC that even when a large extreme feminist item makes the mainstream they now have to reflexively deconstruct it and vilify it for not being all things to everyone.

it is the mother devouring her own child... let them pick at it and find more non reasons that it should not be what it is, and be glad they are busy with their own leg rather than someone elses.

(On all things to everyone: nothing can be all things to everyone, so faulting something this way is a good way to get it halted with a meta argument that neutralizes all the various points on all sides and establishes the truth that it is NOT all things to everyone and is guilty and should be stopped)

We need to reassure her that we still like her.

Much like the glorious pizza, she's flat and cheesy.

One of the obvious problems with feminism is its Marxist origins. Not all people are equally talented in every arena. Thinking that every minority and body type must be represented in a play 's casting is ridiculous. When I was in high school, there were simply not enough boys auditioning for plays, so many of the male parts were filled by girls. Making quotas for everything is just doesn't work, though I wouldn't recommend casting a white Othello.

I recall reading in Professing Feminism that Daphne Patai talked about infighting within feminist circles between minority women and white women, between gay women and straight women, between women who wore makeup and high heels and flat bottomed shoe, no cosmetics feminists. Some of the more "disadvantaged" ones were claming that others were not "true victims," true feminists." You go girls.

It is so sad with man friendly top rate women authors around like Trudy Schuett, Wendy McElroy, Christine Sommers and others that the grotesque opus, "Vagina Monologues" gets top billing as the height of feminist literary works! What a waste!

Contrary to popular belief. Nor was his brother, Dick Hunt and fellow student, Woody Ballsac. This is a Travesty, a Sham and a Mockery! This is a Travashamockery! (sorry Miller brewing Co.) Attorney for the 3 men, Largo Cojones, is filing an injunction to have this production stopped on the grounds that there are NO male participants. Said Cojones "These men have had their testicles chewed off by a feminista DOGma and are 'right proper line walking, mark toeing FeMENist' and deserve to be in this play. After all, they ARE pussies." There was no comment from the producers, Harietta Crack and Lotta Bush.

The man's name mentioned in the above news item as Woody Ballsac, is actually Harry Ballsac. Sorry about that, Harry.
