I notice that she is a "mum" who cut brakes. What does the fact that she is a parent have to do with her trying to kill a colleague.

Makes her crime that much more heinous if you ask me. By doing something that leads to a prison sentence, she's endangering the welfare of her children. Perhaps her sentence should be lengthened to reflect that.
[And to Mensactivism.org moderators: why must our postings have subjects? It's really annoying to type out a long message and then have it erased because I didn't enter a subject. It's obvious what the subject is: this woman who tried to murder someone. And to have to look at a snide comment like "cat got your tongue?" after my efforts have been erased just makes it that much more unpleasant. How about automatically filling the subject line with the title of the news item if the poster doesn't specify a different subject?
