Sexist Volkswagen
posted by Adam on 01:04 PM October 27th, 2004
News Anonymous User writes "In Australia Volkswagen advertised the Golf in TV ads that objectified men. Women driving the cars were using the rear vision mirrors to ogle men's crotches. The punch line of the ad revolved around objects viewed in the mirror may appear larger. What I found totally offensive is the fact that the Australian Advertising Standards Bureau found the ad acceptable yet if any ad reversed the roles and had men ogling women, the ad would never have aired."

Anyone verify and got contact links? Let's get some activism going.

This is bad, but it's not as bad as that billboard in Australia selling "Voo doo Jeans".
Any one remember that one?

Sex objects in mirror may be closer than they appear....hahahaha. Well at least the women in the ads haven't been influenced by Dworkin and McKinnon all that much. Hell, let them look. But if they ever spit spray any feminazi sentiments in my face they will never get to touch.

Not being a feminazi ain't good enough for me. Neither is silence and avoidance of men's issues. I'm a man. If a woman doesn't care about men, then she doesn't care about me. So she won't even get a look!

As if any of these bitches are prizes themselves. The cosmetic surgery industry is DRIVEN by ugly women. Which means there are probably more ugly women, than there are ugly men.

I just want one surgery to make my nose a little smaller and I'll be fine :-)

Sweetheart, if you ever catch a glimpse of me in the rearview mirror of your new VW bug you can look to your heart's content.

And if you have not bought into that feminazi bulldyke bullshit about out of balance power relationships and "Don't-get-me wrong-some-of-my-best-friends-are-older-men-i-just -wouldn't-want-to-see-my-sister-going-out-with-one " biggotry.....well hey!!! consider me a hitch hiker!!!

And really Thea, save the money for the nose job. Noses, ears, and chins continue to grow when all other parts of the body stop.

By the way, I have been well trained by previous vanguard feminists from the sixties (long before the era of Dworkin/McKinnon) in how to treat a woman right and you need not tramp on the gas pedal, I'm a no hurry kind of guy!!!

Just kidding Thea...but I do love you sight unseen. hehehehe

You know brother I sort of get what you are on about. Back when I lived in Montreal, there was this urban legend going around that the size of a man's penis was always proportional to the size of his feet. Where these urban legends get their start who can say? But there has never been any sort of scientific study to prove this. My feet are size twelve and my.....IN MY CASE THE RELATIONSHIP IS PURELY CO-INCIDENTAL AND THERE IS NO TRUTH IN THAT DAMNED URBAN LEGEND ...OK!!!

Anyway, I have a wicked bunion on each foot from wearing shoes that were too small...sort of like some women who wear a bra that's too small to ...well...you know.

All the time when I walked along the streets of Montreal, carloads of women would honk and hoot and holler and say the rudest things....IT MADE ME FEEL SO CHEAP!!!

Most beer commercials aren't that sexist, when compared to the ads that aimed at women.

Which is mind-boggling, when you think about it. The ads aimed at men are derogatory toward men. The ads aimed at women are really really derogatory toward men.

I guess that's what women like -- seeing a man being degraded and marginalized. I suppose watching someone being demeaned helps them feel to superior, to feel better about themselves.

But, geeze, how pathetic is that!
