She had been bullied at school, physically and emotionally abused herself as a child, and involved in a violent relationship as an adult, said Mr Jebb.
BTW, the working URL for the article is:

So now she play's the abuse card. Boo hoo, poor her. She was in an "abusive" relationship, and that somehow explains why she almost starved her children to death.
Please pardon my language, but I get so fucking sick and tired of the "abuse card".

If equality between the sexes was actually valid. Then men could easily play the abuse card as well. We men, after all, are the most targeted gender of violence. Actually, with as many boys as we are seeing being abused by their mothers, these days, in a number of years we will probably see an increase in the number of fathers abuseing their daughters, because they were abused by their mothers..., If that were to actually happen, how many of those men will be able to use the "abuse excuse" as so many women do today?
My bet..., not ONE of them.

Good point, Thundercloud. Society seems to hold men to a much higher standard of accountability. In other words it treats women like children.

(URL comment: I don't think the space should be there before the 8 at the end. I had to remove it to see the article.)
