Cheerleaders bully reluctant sticker-non-taker
posted by Matt on 10:49 PM September 26th, 2004
News I didn't know whether to post this under Humor or News. I settled on News since it sure wasn't a funny episode to their victim - or since the victim was female, was it that the cheerleaders were empowered and picked the wrong target to vent their righteous and wholly understandable anger against the evil, oppressive patriarchy? Or was it something else? I am sure a man or men are going to be held to blame eventually...

Sounds like a bunch of dumb girls who havent grown up yet. They just felt like everyone should support them, and felt justified in humiliating another person because they didnt fit into their high-school popularity mentality. There should be no "internal" dealing with this issue, its physical assault plain and simple. Personally as a person in college, I find that a lot of people involved in the college can circumvent the law fairly easily, depending on their 'political status' within the university. These cheerleaders wont see anything except maybe a slap on the wrist, despite that they committed a criminal offense.

.....This is utter nonsense but not surprising that this article's tone is obviously an aloof one. If this had been a group of football players assaulting somebody there would national media galore, because Penn State is a member of the Big Ten Conference.

But another non-surprise is the fact that your typical American school girl who is a member of the popular crowd believes that she can do whatever the fuck she wants to whom ever she wants, and get away with it. She'll get away with it because she'll play the media like a violin and go on and on about how she was under pressure from everyone in order to succeed.

The evil Patriarchy that teaches little girls to be misogynistic and cruely competitive with other females MADE THEM do it!

Feminist Victimology strikes again!

And look, with the way this article is treating this assault they will get away with it.

Fuck cheerleaders. That's all they're good for anyway according to a Frat-boy here who is one of my many male friends, and I happen to agree. Who needs cheerleaders in order to get 'hyped' at a Big Ten Football Game? ESPN is all over the place with those games.

When I watch my Big Ten Boilermakers of Purdue University(because my college's--Ball State-- football team sucks and we aren't apart of the Big Ten) play a game I don't need the social-status seeking, narcissistic, egomaniac skanks jumping around to get "hyped". I just need the marching band and the players.

Cheerleaders are erroneous, but colleges feel as if they have to bend over backwards for these skimpy bimboes because they're such good "athletes" who have been cruelly stereotyped by an evil [nonexistent] Patriarchy.

Athletes my ass. It takes ZERO TALENT to jump around like a stripper on ecstasy.

In fact a cheerleader at my old high school was busted for taking that drug. But her sentence was greatly reduced because she was such a "fine athlete and an upstanding member" of the student body.

Once again she sited all the "pressure" on her to succeed in a misogynistic Male Dominated society that turns little girls into misogynists.

I agree.
I have never been a fan of cheerleaders.
When I was playing football in high school, They always distracted me and some of the other guys.
They (cheerleaders) stand on the side-line screaming like chimps and jumping around like a bunch of little idiots. How is THAT supposed to help me win a game? I ask ya, HOW?
I have enough aggravation...,

According to the NCAA, for the purposes of Title IX, cheerleading is not a sport. Why would the Athletic Department be involved?

Whoa there, can this be, a woman complains of being assaulted and her word is not enough ! Are they saying she needs witnesses (more than the one) to the assault before action is taken . . . but then, she is making a complaint of being attacked by other females - which renders it quite doubtfull ?

You can bet your bottom dollar that if she had simply accused males of doing this, she would not need even ONE witness to get "something done" about it.
