More articles calling out domestic violence
posted by Adam on 01:02 PM August 10th, 2004
Domestic Violence jadeforrest writes "There are two more articles I've noticed this week that have called violence by women domestic violence: here and over here While there is still a lot of work to do before domestic violence services are available for all (man or women, gay or straight, old or young), this represents a large shift in the media's coverage. I wasn't seeing these articles a couple of years ago."

A cop and a school board member. Not unimportant positions, both with a lot of power. And people think that the world is a better place with women in charge?

Doesn't sound much better to me.

The first case is remarkable because it was called by its true name "Domestic Violence." The second is absolutely amazing. The chairwoman was arrested on the same kind of trivial tiff that men routinely are. It's heartening to see this bad rule applied evenhandedly.

Because every state's DV laws and courts, as well as "treatment" protocols have been written by and are still very much controlled by the ardent feminist camp, you can assume both of these female perpetrators will receive free legal assistance and aggressive advocacy, as well as mandated extensive screening to determine if their violence was defensive ... because they are "truly" victims of prior male abuse.

It's great to see a couple media articles calling female violence by its true name.

But don't fool yourself, the DV bureacracy will attempt to characterize both these crimes as females acting defensively under the well-known "battered woman syndrome" alibi.

I'll bet the guy who got shot wishes he'd only had some gravel thrown in his face!

It is encouraging to see these kinds of articles. The media may slowly be coming around. I agree that feminists and their friends in the print and TV media will continue to resist the depiction of women offenders as anything other than victims. Still I think progress is coming, gradually but surely.

This article is about a female school board member who might be charged with domestic violence. Not sure if this is the same incident, though.
