Rison to be jailed for delinquent C/S
posted by Matt on 12:51 PM August 9th, 2004
Inequality YahooNews reports here that Andre Rison is to be arrested for failure to pay C/S payments.

Of course if his ex denies him visitation, that's just fine, though.

3500/mo in child support?!?

What kid costs an extra 42K a year above what the woman already spends on herself for food, shelter, etc?

Most families live together off half that income.

Better than the, what, 250k/mo Lionel Riche was forced to pay his ex-wife in alimony, I guess.
"non-support" is a felony? (Score:0)

Last month, a district judge in Michigan dismissed a felony charge against Rison for failing to pay child support to his ex-wife for their 16-year-old son. Rison owed more than $90,000 to Tonja Rison and had been charged with felony nonsupport in December 2002.

Felony??!!! At least the district judge is not totally insane.

Rison hasn't paid his $3,500-a-month child-support payment for his 16- and 18-year-old children since August 2002, the order said. The child-support total is $87,500, with the additional amount coming from interest and attorney's fees.

Randall Kessler, an attorney for Raycoa Handley, the mother of two of Rison's children, said he thinks Rison is in Michigan or Florida.

I guess Rison had sex with Handley, and as a result of that "crime" he owes $87,500 and faces jail. Meanwhile, many poor children don't have parents who make more than 30K total.

So how much money mommy gets depends on how rich the guy she had sex with is. Great public policy: a gov't program to encourage women to have sex with rich guys so the gov't will deliver them a bigger check for said sex. Could there be a more stupid government regulation of postitution?
