BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday advocated the need for a regulatory body "to stop distortion of women's image in society." "In the name of entertainment, it is despicable the way women are portrayed in the so-called popular primetime soap operas," the deputy leader of Rajya Sabha said ... She said women are increasingly shown as conspirators and home breakers in these soaps and serials, causing a negative impact on the society, particularly children. "During my tenure as the Information and Broadcasting Minister I took off the air many ads that were offensive to women," she said, stressing immediate need for a body to screen and monitor the serials. Swaraj said she had raised in Parliament the issue of formation of a broadcasting regulatory authority as a follow up of the Convergence Bill she introduced during her tenure.
If nothing else, this is more proof that ultra conservatives and feminists are reading from the same hymn sheet. Thank the Lord that the West isn't this bad .... lol"

We Are All Guilty of "Thought Crime" Against Women (Score:2)

This scenario in India is very interesting.

If this feminist culture control is allowed to proceed, it opens the door to what cannot be anything other than Orwellian "Thought Crime."

Where do you draw the lines in the creative arts to determine "harmful" depictions of women?

And why are women privileged as a class to be protected from such depictions in media?

The honorable Ms. Former Minister of "Broad"-casting(what a choice title for a feminist!)decries the silly soap operas for portraying females as skanks, home-wreckers, promiscuous harlots.

She wants a government agency of oversight to censor any such "negative" characterizations of the morally superior sex.

What crap! Gender fascism in its purest guise!

One would think that as the head of Indian broadcasting, she would have learned how to work a remote control.

Silly bitch. Change the freakin' channel!

In case anybody has any doubts that India is not feminists dream come true or hope to marry a reasonable and well behavioured Indian girl please read the book called "Continent of Circe" by Naipaul which tells the toll taken on Indian Male.

Then there are some interesting laws

Section 497 - Adultery
If a man commits adultery it is crime punishable for the man upto 2 yrs . If a women commits adultery then the man with whom she committed adultery is punished

IF man has consensual sex after promising marriage and later withdrws to marry it is considered rape

Luv our laws we are 20 yrs ahead

Here in the west, American men are treated FAR worse in the media than ANY woman in India is. FAR worse! Where's the cry for censorship, here in the U.S.A.?

It's the sheer gall of this type of woman that just flabbergasts me. Are women not capable of being homebreakers? Or conspirators? How many women (Indian or not) are in jail for plotting to have their husbands/boyfriends killed?

Come to the UK, where every single TV depiction of the average male is as violent, drunk, abusive, unfaithful, weak or pathetic.

I wouldn't know where to start if I had the same power to affect the portrayal of men on TV in the UK.

Keep in mind that dictatorship loaths and cannot tolerate decent.
It also MUST hide the truth about it's self, otherwise MOST people wouldn't go for it.
It is EXACTLY this way with feminists. They do not WANT us to see or know the truth! The truth that says; that women CAN be homewreckers, women CAN be sluts, women CAN be abbrasive, women CAN be slobs, women CAN be obnoxious and women CAN be EVIL! The only way that feminists can hold on to their elusion of "female moaral supiriority" is to hide the fact that they AREN'T! And the public being alowed to see women as other than the perfect virtuous victim is contrary to the feminist agenda.
If we see women behaveing as many of them truly DO behave, then we might start holding women truly accountable for mis-deeds. and we just CAN'T have that, eh, Feminists?!?

Uhm... Ya know who watched the soaps, and I'm sure it's the same in India? Not kids - guh, when I was a kid I'd rather have torn my eyes out than watch soaps - not impressionable young men who might get the wrong ideas about women, but WOMEN. What, are women gonna radically change because of seeing something on TV?* Phht. Let 'em vote with their remote, you dummies.

*Hey, maybe by this rational we should only show good acts by men on TV if men are so "evil" the rest of the time.
