More on false accusations, unjust laws

False Accusations Mangesh writes "This is a news report from the Indian Express. What I like about this one is police officials have openly admitted that 1) false accusations by women as well as outright harassment of men do happen, 2) Indian law on DV is blatantly anti-male. Harassment of a married woman is punishable with up to 3 years of rigorous imprisonment plus fine. It is also a non-bailable offense (which means husbands can be arrested and held without bail based on the mere complaint by the wife). Harassment of married men is not a criminal offense at all, so the police has no option but to attempt some sort of counselling! The story is here"

So, what the police do is ‘‘try to provide a non-police station atmosphere for counselling the couple. The husband’s complaint is then disposed of,’’ Dhawan adds.

A similar complaint by the wife against the husband invites a non-bailable offence with imprisonment of up to three years.

That's total sexism. What's the ratio of males to females in Indian jails? If it's more than 60/40, I favor affirmative action to reduce the number of men in jail so as to promote gender equity.

I am sure glad I am not in India and married! Sometimes I wonder if I should even be visiting this site anymore as it is certainly altering the way I perceive certain things now.

I feel bad for the Indian men, but if the ones I've talked to here working in IT are representative of men over there, the vast majority are clueless as to the changes in the laws (just like here).
They wont find out until they, or someone very close to them is facing the gun. I tell them not to let these things get entrenched in their society like they are here.

I undestand your feeling, Peter. It can be painful having your eyes opened to what your society does but doesn't talk about. However, I'm afraid it's too late for you now; it's a one-way street. The way you perceive things has already been altered -- there's no going back.

Feminist dogma has so permeated everyday thought and action that, once one can see past them, it's like having blinders removed.

Once the basic tenets of feminism are shown for the malicious fabrication and outright lies they are, then the rest of the house of cards comes tumbling down.
- no, women are not oppressed
- no, there is no 'patriarchy'
- no, men are not creatures of evil
- no, women are not sainted beings

It's hard having your basic culture-taught beliefs proven wrong, but the pain is temporary. You don't have to accept being treated as if you were sub-human. That's NOT "just the way it is."

I'm so happy to see another brother have his eyes opened. Welcome.
