No Child (Girl?) Left Behind?
posted by Adam on 09:44 AM March 2nd, 2004
Inequality frank h writes "The title of this article is "No Parent Left Behind." It addresses the things that the No Child Left Behind Act requires that schools make available to parents. Among these things are information on achievement numbers by race, teacher qualifications, test explanations, and offers to transfer students from struggling or dangerous schools. What's missing is gender. This law does NOT require that districts maek achievement by gender available to parents. This is a small thing but the implications are large. It's something we ought to try to change."

Why is that? Hmmm (very sarcastic tone) ... could it be that the glaring deficiency in boys education would become startlingly apparent and boys would have to be treated like human beings and actually EDUCATED instead of MEDICATED?

Remember future teachers of America ... write laws to protect EVERYONE BUT men.

It never fails.

When men are disadvantaged we do not acknowledge it, and it sometimes almost seems we purposely do so.

When women are disavantaged (or not) we cry crocadile tears, and show men how much advantages over women they have.
