Education thrudd writes "Sometimes, I am really embarrassed by my Alma Mater. Parents this is how your money is being spent on your sons' (daughters' education) !! "It is a rare class at Brown where the syllabus includes pornography screenings and a fieldtrip to Miko Exoticwear. Female anatomy as well as sexuality, body image, masturbation and contraception are all among the topics addressed in the female sexuality workshop offered at Brown this semester." http://www.browndailyherald.com/stories.asp?show=1 &storyID=1350"

According to the article and the student replies, the class does not receive funds from the university or other public sources. If what they are saying is true, then, tax dollars are not supporting this class. Further, no credits are given for the class; it is basically equivalent to a bible study group. Besides the ridiculousness of the content of the class itself, I'm not sure what the actual problem is. As long as it isn't publicly supported, and is within the bounds of lawful free speech, I don't really care what these strange people are doing on their own time. While they are studying their own genitals, the men are studying physics, math, chemistry, and engineering, and their lives will eventually benefit something besides their own erotic fantasies.

Ironically, these same men will subsequently be vilified for earning more than the women who attended these courses and helping to perpetuate the "wage gap."

They won't charge for it. All are welcome to attend, especially wymyn, with men as "supporting participants".

I am SOOO glad I am not going to college these days.

I take issue with conservative reactions like the above being part of the "Men's Rights" movement. You do not have to be a bible-thumping conservative to be against radical feminism. I am liberal but do not agree with radical feminism.

First, to the first responder, get your facts straight. Brown is an Ivy-League, PRIVATE university. It costs families >$35000 to send their kids there. Whether or not that is money well spent is up to the families. The not-for-credit class does not have the goal of immasculating men, so it has nothing to do with men's rights. Were there a documented attempt and rejection to try the same thing at Brown for Men's Sexuality, then you'd have an argument.

This is just conservative knee-jerk reaction, and the more the "Men's Rights" movement is associated with religious conservatism, the harder it will be to make it mainstream.

So what exactly do you take issue with, and who are you? 'Conservative' is not a four letter word, if you haven't noticed.

Only fair as conservatives have turned 'liberal' into a four letter word.
