News Story About Rape Charge Spreads Misandry

Inequality Luek writes "This is an article about an Air Force Academy cadet charged with raping a female cadet. His name is printed for all the world to see but not the female accusor's. This man has not been convicted of any criminal act so why should his name be dragged through the mud? This is always the pattern when the media reports alledged man on woman crime. The man is always named but the female accusor is never mentioned so as to protect her precious sensitivities. And of course women never make false allegations of rape or other crimes as we all know!"

Where do these laws come from? (Score:0)

Does anyone know if these "withold the name of the victim" laws are state laws, fedeeal laws or just unwritten practices?
This has always struck me as one of the most blatant of the many double standards out there.

Whenever you create an atmosphere of hysteria, you can count on selfish, opportunistic F-heads to come out of the woodwork and try to exploit it for their own gain. Take the Catholic scandal that busted out last year. One woman accused a Cardinal of sexually abusing her in the past, but then her story fell apart. (Of course, little was made out of the pervy NUNS that many had to put up with.) It really does take a peculiarly vile individual to tear up the life of a perfect stranger for their own gain, and I can guarantee that there are vast legions of them, quietly biding their time until the right scandal turns up.

Now, I'm not saying that this cadet did or didn't commit rape. However, this whole business of denouncing the accused before the trial is even done, while fiercely guarding the name of his accuser, has drawn many greedy individuals into the court system... perhaps because of relationships that went south, perhaps in order to set up shop to conduct a civil suit (read: $$$), and perhaps for other reasons that I do not understand.
