Hefty Re-running Male Bashing TV Ad
posted by Scott on Thursday March 07, @02:08AM
from the media dept.
The Media disclaimer writes "The Hefty trash bag ad bashing men is back on the air for another run. I saw the 'men are trash' Hefty ad on the evening of Tuesday, March 5th on CBS. Even though we wrote letters of complaint about the commercial, it appears that Hefty didn't listen. I thought that those who wrote Hefty should know that Hefty has turned a deaf ear to us." Perhaps they need another reminder?

Thanks for the contact info.

Apparently, all the apologetic e-mails we who complained last time received were meaningless. It's time for a large scale boycott. Spread the word. Not just here, any other boards you belong to (whether men's rights oriented or not). Don't buy Hefty products.

Could you check on the URL you provided for PACTIV above? It isn't a valid web page at the PACTIV site.

Yup. I sent them one last night, and told them I do NOT want there appologies anymore. I wasn't very kind either, and some may have dissaproved of the language I used, but thats too bad. I'm fed up. They get to see enough complaints, but I'm livid, and they now know it, as well as the fact they have lost my business forever, as well as making sure everyoine I know here's about it.
No more pussy-footing here.

I just called the 800 number (800-828-2850) and the person who I wound up speaking with defended the ad, saying it was not man bashing but an attempt to be humerous, but she could not tell me what the ad said. When I read what the posting said about the ad she could not respond except to repeat the above BS. I said if that was so humerous why don't they try reversing the sexes. I said that neither I nor my roommate will buy Hefty anymore, and I meant it. I then referred her to this site.

Thanks for the number, Marc. Methinks Hefty is going to get a voice complaint from me this time as well.

In fact, folks, let's flood that line with calls.

I haven't bought any of Hefty's stinking products since I first saw the add last year. So the boycott is in full swing in my house.

I also sent them an e-mail protesting their misandry.

My dad and I were disgusted by this very same commercial last week. Honestly, where do these ad companies get off in this whole game of blatant character attacks? What was OUR last commercial? I feel like getting involved in some campaigning with these companies, because this stuff has to go. Could they at least restrict these misandrist commercials to the myriad of Womens' Networks that are on-air now?

recent, "If I had a man like Hefty," advertising spot. We regret if any
offense was caused. Certainly, none was intended. In light of the

Here is my reply to the above:

""""Hello Ms Stafford,

Thank you for your quick response to my concern about the misandric Hefty commercial.
And of course I noted you lack of agreement.

Please be advised that I will continue to chose other products over yours because of this situation and will encourage others to do the same.

Thank you for your time.""""

Invariably, whenever an offense is caused, no offense was "intended" and therefore the blame for the offensive interpretation rests solely and exclusively with the offendee. F Hefty!

If offense was caused but none was intended, the 'offender' would appologise and stop doing the thing that offends. If they keep doing something that they know offends people they cannot claim that no offense is intended. I think they must keep their brains in their stupid rubbish bags.

Very well stated. If the original offense was not intended, then the only logical solution would be to stop that action that offends certain parties. If the offense is continued, then it is intended. Heffy... ahh, another good company turned biggit.
