It's nice to see a drugie not only getting full custody of a child but getting custody of a very sick little child.
I wonder if the woman who went through all the pain of pregnancy and childbirth might like to have the chance to see her child?
Did he allow her to breastfeed the child SHE gave birth to or did he have her in court just after the birth?

Another troll to ignore, one who doesn't have the courage to leave a name, and perhaps enter the debate head on.

And you can bet that if the courts saw fit to award full custody to the father then the mother was no prize. It's a shame our troll friend, above, couldn't take that into account.

Interesting to note are two huge assumptions.
The first assumption is that Torres, the man in this story, was a druggie (meaning a drug USER) when the article said he was in prison merely for possession, which could have meant that he was selling but not using.
The second assumption is that Torres is the one who initiated the court proceedings, and the implication that he did so to rob the mother of her oh-so-painfully earned child is nothing short of insulting.
Both assumptions work off of an underlying assumption: Women are innocent and men are guilty. Forget the fact that birth defects that could have led to the medical situation in this story are very often caused by drug abuse, smoking, or drinking by the MOTHER during pregnancy. Apparently, you would have us believe that the "evil man" tried to take the child away from the "innocent mother".
Shame on you. What this really boils down to, this story, is a parent..a person..doing what they could to save their child under adverse conditions and finding salvation in the process (and I don't mean that religiously, BTW). Not to downplay the fact that it is the father doing so. I for one am glad that the press printed the story.
Think what you will. You have a right to your own views, substantiated or not. But this is a man who took responsibility for his child and he deserves to be respected for standing up for his child's welfare, not berated for doing what was morally sound.
Please, everyone reading....keep posting positive stories like this one and let's also write to papers, news reporting agencies, etc..and let them know that stories like this are appreciated, and WHY they are appreciated. Credendo Vides

I find it offensive that so many peopel have this troll's sick, perverted and child hating attitude. They would much rather see a child tortured by the motehr than see a father of any type raise the child with love.
Face it buddy, substance abusers reform: A lot of them do. Reformed drunks are among the nicest and healthiest people there are.
Your desire to see children tortured for your own perversion is sick and abusive.
