It's Time For The Media To Focus On Causes of Male Suicide

The Media Although I know quite a bit has been written lately about the San Diego suicide of Derrick K. Miller, I felt that something from a media perspective needed to be added to the discussion. As a police reporter for a newspaper in Franklin, Tenn., I covered all kinds of horrifying stories, including one which is remarkably similar to Miller's. Here are my thoughts on how the media should follow up on Miller's story. This column will also appear on ifeminists.com. Special thanks to Wendy McElroy for continuing to run my column.

It's a good article Night, thank you.

Twenty years ago I was thrown off my ISP(1) for saying in Alt.Depression (Newsgroup) that if we do not make serious changes to gender policy we would have ritual male suicide. We now have and I was right... Sadly, I was right. (1) The Niagara Freenet which stills operates and still throws males off for voicing anti-gender-feminist points of view.

Unfortunately, most power brokers in the media will not allow discussion of the problem. No person in government or social services will allow a change to current policies. We will have more male ritual suicide.

What to do? We all --men & women together-- must tell our legislators (local, state/provincial & federal) that they either remove gender feminism as the sole actor in gender related matters or we will ensure that they are never again elected to any office: Furthermore, we must tell them in the strongest possible terms that they may face criminal action for enforcing gender feminism as the sole actor in gender matters. We must tell the press that they must remove gender feminism as the sole actor on gender matters or will will bankrupt them.

This is certainly not the first time that a free people acting in concert has told its government and press to make a major change or face serious consequnces. Our ancestors did it and so can we.

It may well be that we can use the new anti-terrorist laws to force change. There is an argument for that...

There is no excuse in any first-world country for policies which harm people, any people.

I have a bad feeling about how the issue of male suicide will be portrayed by the media and handled by agencies - assuming either thing happens. It'll be the usual stuff about how men are so emotionally weak (compared to women), presented in that patronising tone that implies a sense of triumph on the part of the one speaking. Far from it being the fault of external things driving men to these desperate extremes, it'll be the fault of men being 'macho' and not being in touch with their feelings. Instead of changes being made to policies or even to attitudes, there'll be a call to raise boys to be more like girls - all the usual crap. For people raised on the diet of manhating that is feminism, men's emotions are actually very threatening. Acknowledging men's emotions would give men access to the kind of sympathy and consideration that these people are determined should only go to women. This fear of male emotion can be found in the idea of the male ego. You all know how it goes: a man gets his feelings hurt by a woman and we say that his ego has been bruised. Because ego is perceived negatively this allows us to blame the man for what he feels, and the woman is turned into a kind of heroine. If instead we said that the woman had hurt his feelings that would put her in the wrong and our sympathies and support would go to him. It seems that there is almost a sadistic desire to hurt men's feelings as a means of continually asserting the primacy of female emotions. The twisted logic is that the more we hurt men, the more we care about women. How else was it that nobody involved in the tragic case of Derrick Miller saw fit to treat him with consideration, as a human being with feelings and limits to what he could provide and what he could endure? Sometimes it seems like the bodysnatchers have already arrived, given the cold, nasty way some people behave towards others. Where the hell is their humanity?

Uber:

A few thoughts on what you said. I agree, but I want to explicate a little more.

I think there will be two reactions:

A. These suicidal losers aren't "tough" enough, and hence, are not "real men". The groups who feel this way will be many conservative men and women, the Justice Department, and a lot of "Joe and Jill Average" who don't know the laws as they are currently written, and thus often get their asses run over in family court.

B. The "Men must get in touch with their feelings" crowd, led by many/most genfems, some psychologists, some psychiatrists, and alot of the "progressive" ( I want to puke, everytime I hear that word) people in your local community. The GenFem's percentage will increase when the "diagnosis" is given the accompanying "prescription" of turning little boys into little girls. We all simply MUST remember that gender is nothing but a social construct, and if you work it right , Johnny will be playing happily with Barbie, and Susie with Sam the Tow Truck.

This last part really moved me:
How else was it that nobody involved in the tragic case of Derrick Miller saw fit to treat him with consideration, as a human being with feelings and limits to what he could provide and what he could endure? Sometimes it seems like the bodysnatchers have already arrived, given the cold, nasty way some people behave towards others. Where the hell is their humanity?

I wonder this myself, alot.
