India, like most of these dirt-poor 3rd world nations, is horrendously overpopulated. If you're living in a grass shack and drinking out of the same water your cows are washed in, the last thing you need is ten kids. You shouldn't have any kids, let alone create your own tribe the way so many of these people do. I remember being a little kid and thinking about this, asking, "Why do these people have so many kids when they can't even feed themselves?" The answer is that they don't have access to birth control.
Mother Teresa was a great woman, but she was dead wrong when she spoke out against birth control. I've said for years that the answer is not to send food to these countries, but birth control. Widespread use of birth control would save lives by allowing the poorest of the poor to avoid having children, therefore freeing up resources for those people who are already here. I hope condom use in India becomes widespread, and I hope the women there get put on the pill en masse too.

I think the same sense of urgency should be focused on female contraceptives. The responsibility should be shared equaly!
Also,I think alot of men would be more receptive to the use of a contraceptive pill (most women chose this form also) as oposed to a contraceptive that would diminish sexual pleasure such as a condom.
