I am the residence hall director for a co-ed building that houses 150 undergrads. The Health Education department on campus was gracious enough to put together a promotion for resident assistants that they called the "Love Your Body Spa Social." The folks at Health Ed put together these kits that included aroma therapy pouches, exfoliating creams, mud masques, mood music, and a packet of info about ways to take good care of your body.
This was a great social! It was also an almost completely female social. One of my male RAs and one of his male residents were the only guys there besides myself.
I have to tell you that it's a pretty nice process. It seems a bit long when you're a guy--all the scrubbing and oiling and treatments--but the process leaves you feeling relaxed and convinced that you are in a better physical state somehow than you were before (I mean, you can't go through all that crap and not have it do something, right?)
Guys should be doing this kind of thing more often. Purposeful time spent rejuvenating the body combined with the social aspect of the whole thing that I witnessed should not be limited by associating it as a women's activity.
The jury's still out on getting your nails done. How am I gonna' get this stuff off my toes...
