Afghan Convert was also Seeking Child Custody when Arrested

This BBC news report adds a critical missing piece of information about the recent story regarding the Afghan man who, after converting to Christianity, was held for trial on charges of apostasy. It appears as if he had converted sixteen years ago and had left Kabul, but returned from the Panjshir Valley to try to get custody of his daughters. Only then after his relatives complained was he arrested for the crime of choosing his own "unacceptable" religious beliefs! This important piece of information of course only comes toward the end of the report, so read the whole article.

Concern Grows Over College Gender Gap

Joe Manthey writes "Article here. Excerpt:

'Joe Manthey: "If you look at who is filling up our jails, our juvenile halls, our prisons; who is more likely to be homeless; who is more likely to commit suicide; who is more likely to commit crimes; who is more likely to be institutionalized; it's boys and men."

'Manthey says men who make it to college don't get the same kind of encouragement women do. For example, most universities have support organizations for women, but nothing specifically for men -- even though the women are often doing better.'"

No justice for rape victims, apparently

Tirryb writes "BBC News reports here that apparently there is almost no justice for victims of rape, with less than 1 in 20 accused of rape being convicted and with those horrible men still able to defend themselves in court and 'get away with it'.

Of course all the usual excuses are trotted out - institutional sexism (she flirted so she deserved it), old fashioned judges, men bamboozling the jury with expert witnesses, etc. And not even a mention of the possibility of a growth in false accusations.

Then right at the end, the shock figure - only 15% of rapes ever get reported. Yeah, right."

NOW slams shared parenting bill

Anonymous User writes "This article/propaganda piece printed for the feminists by the Times Union is a scathing attack on the shared parenting bill currently before the New York legislature. This bill would provide for automatic shared parenting in all New York divorces. This would be a devastating setback for the feminists who worked long and hard to eliminate fathers from families, separate them from thier children, and ensure that they serve as permanent wage slaves for women. NOW can't have this, so predictly the "article" is filled with usual lies and distortions used so often by the feminazis. Read it, get mad and rip Marcia Pappas a new one."

Valuable Citation Material for Fathers and Children Studies Available

James Adams writes "I have collated citations to all the published research I could find supporting the case that children suffer without their fathers for our Government's enquiry on the Family Law ("Feminist Law"?). It lists hundreds of citations, running to 80 pages. Please download a copy of the document from the Australian Government website. This is submission no. 110 [main (.pdf file) and attachment (.pdf file)].

This was part of our campaign for a presumption of equal parenting time in Australia by Fathers4Equality-australia.org, the Non Custodial Parents Party, Dads In Distress, the Fatherhood Foundation, the Men's Rights Agency and not least the Shared Parenting Council of Australia (especially Yuri Joakimidis). Debate is continuing in our parliament (upper house).

Hope grows!

Serious Achievement Gap in Maine's Schools

Return of the King writes "In an about-face from decades ago, boys' grades lag behind those of girls, and boys go to college in far fewer numbers than they did even 20 years ago while female enrollment has skyrocketed. In Part One of a four-part series that outlines the plight of boys in education, the reporters fail to point out that decades of one sided sexist advocacy favoring girls alone from a federal level on down IS the reason for the failure of boys in school. Women's advocates say pay equity should be a higher priority than boys' lagging achievement while 38% of Maine undergraduates are male and they drop out of school in higher numbers as well..."

ADHD drugs linked to heart attacks, etc.

Tirryb writes "News.com.au reports here that ADHD drugs have caused serious health problems in children as young as 3. Of course it's 'children' and not 'boys', I wonder what the percentage of prescription boy to girl is..?

Excerpt:

Documents obtained by The Australian reveal that almost 400 serious adverse reactions have been reported to the Therapeutic Goods Administration, some involving children as young as three.

Cases include the sudden death of a seven-year-old, and a five-year-old who suffered a stroke after taking Ritalin. Children also experienced heart palpitations and shortness of breath after taking Dexamphetamine.

Others taking Ritalin or Dexamphetamine - the two most commonly used ADHD drugs - experienced hair loss, muscle spasms, severe abdominal pain, tremors, insomnia, severe weight loss, depression and paranoia.

Almost 60 of the adverse-reaction reports dating back to 1980, obtained under Freedom of Information laws, involved children under the age of 10."

Wendy McElroy Tracks Legal Redefining of Dads

Roy writes "Wendy McElroy writes an objective piece about several current cases in the legal system that affect fathers' rights, mostly related to child custody in divorce and reproductive choices or lack thereof. One of the most important cases comes up this week – "On March 28, the New York State Assembly's Children & Families Committee is scheduled to hear Bill A330 on shared parenting. The bill seeks to establish "the presumption in matrimonial proceedings for awarding shared parenting of minor children in the absence of an allegation that shared parenting would be detrimental to the best interests of the child." (It’s interesting that the bill’s language requires merely an "allegation" to derail presumption of shared parenting. Women’s divorce lawyers will be found negligent if they do not tell their client to make a false accusation of domestic violence against the soon-to-be-ex-husband. This in no way advances fathers' legal standing, unless a test of proof is required for allegations.)"

Boy Murdered for Refusal to Comply with Gender Dysphoria

Ragtime writes "I'm really not sure what I can add to this bit of horror. -- Four-year-old Jandre Botha disobeyed an order to call his mother's lesbian lover "Daddy''. So the lover, Engeline de Nysschen (33), viciously assaulted Jandre while demanding that he must call her "Daddy". Jandre died from his injuries, which trauma expert Professor Mohammed Dada said were similar to those of a person who had fallen from a double-storey building. -- Appalling story here."
