Bahar Mustafa’s supporters defend minority-specific events, ironic misandry, fight against female oppression

Article here. Excerpt:

'Support has been growing for Bahar Mustafa, the Welfare and Diversity officer at the centre of a racism and sexism row.

They defend Mustafa for organizing minority-specific events and say her tweeting of hashtags such as #killallwhitemen has been misunderstood.

The president of Goldsmiths’ Student Union, Howard Littler, and the co-convenor of the MA in Gender, Media and Culture, Sara Ahmed, are among those who have publicly supported Mustafa.

Amanda Hess, staff writer at Slate, says in her article: “Mustafa is not the first to have her reputation raked across the Web on account of some lousy tweets. But she may be the first to crumble over a case of ironic misandry, a tongue-in-cheek form of discourse favored by the young feminist Internet natives. You may have spied them on Twitter or Tumblr, working on their “KILL ALL MEN” cross-stitch or sipping from a mug labelled “MALE TEARS.” Ironic misandrists say they’re poking fun at long-standing stereotypes about militant feminist man-haters.'

... it's not working, esp. when adding racial or gender req'ts for entry to events.

I'm curious to see how Miss M speaks of this phase of her life a mere 5 yrs. hence.

A great deceit was perpetrated when feminists created the equation:
Feminism = Women

Since then, any argument against feminism is met with an accusation of misogyny.

It was clever but it was deceit.

And now they are at it again.

They are trying to equate misandry with the IRONIC MISANDRY and hope that the notion is accepted.

Those who control the language control the politics.

This is an attempt to legitimize man-hating.

By all means, this must be smashed fast.

Relax. It's all just a misunderstanding. The article states her comments were "tongue-in-cheek form of discourse." so we have nothing to worry about. (obvious sarcasm)

This is what arguing with a feminist is like. You catch them in the act, yet they still can explain it away. This time they call it a joke, but their usually MO is to blame men.

"Those who control the language control the politics."

An example of this is when one types "misandry" into Microsoft Word or other text fields, and word is underlined in red i.e. as a "mistake", while the word "misogyny" is recognized. This reminds me of "newspeak" from Orwell's 1984 in which the language was controlled in order to prevent dissenting opinions. One could say that Big Brother is ungood, but couldn't create the argument to support such a statement in newspeak. Similarly, by not recognizing terms such as "misandry", feminism tries to prevent dissenting opinions through it's own form of language.

"ooh! lighten up, it's just a joke."

mm-hmm... sure it is.

and what do you think would happen if someone even as a "joke" had said; "if you are a minority or a woman, don't show up!"?

i think we all know the answer to that question...

men's_issues, i'm about to do an article on just that subject, on my website.

the parallels between feminism, political-correctness and George Orwell's "newspeak".
both what Orwell described as "newspeak" and political-correctness are speech-codes. no society is truly a free society if it has any sort of speech-code imposed upon it.
odd, isn't it that george orwell warned of "BIG BROTHER", when in reality it is now BIG SISTER we are contending with, eh, what?
