"Shriver Report Reveals The Truth About Men"

Article here. Excerpt:

'A Woman’s Nation, an organization founded by former First Lady of California Maria Shriver, released the results of a survey of men on the state of manhood. The results show that the way we define success (and masculinity) are evolving in some ways, but not others.

Generally speaking, the way we define success has changed. To the modern man, the new “American Dream” has a lot less to do with money than it does with being happy at home: 60% defined personal success as being a good son, husband and father, while only 24% related it to professional and financial gains. In fact, 76% of men said they have a healthy work/life balance, which I found shocking. As for why the shift occurred, my guess is that the economy played a big part: When the jobs (and money) dried up in the late aughts and early 10s, it makes sense to assume that men would focus their efforts on the one place where they still had an impact, i.e. the home. "From our poll to the conversations I have almost daily with real men, I think what men are lacking is a clear guidebook on how they fit into the new framework of American society. Men have told us they are working to be the entrepreneurs of their own lives but don't see themselves reflected in modern media. Instead they see headlines and plotlines depicting men as the bumbling idiot or the woman-hater. Today's man knows who is he NOT but is still evolving to discover who he IS,” she said.'

I have yet to meet a man who cares much abt fitting a pre-fab def'n of manhood but a lot of women who seem to be concerned w/ what a "real man" is and then search desperately to find someone who fits her particular def'n and hope he's both avail. (or snagable, if he is taken) and willing to accept her.

I also wonder why the hell of all ppl Maria Shriver is pursuing such a topic. Weird.
