Tumescent writes "I guess this article is written to be funny, and I guess maybe it is to the extent that apparently this guy has a hard time staying awake, but its pretty typical to how the media reacts to a lot of women against men domestic violence. It's framed in a "man bites dog" context. Two puncture holes to the arm and scratches from previous attacks, but its nothing to worry about, "I assumed he went back to sleep, har...har...har....""

Kathleen Parker has offered this commentary on recent news items about French men.
First, I'd like to say that, in part because I've visited France about a dozen times, I know a number of French men who are as heteronormative (Like that word? I couldn't resist.) as any American man. Her article, though, does carry some insight and a forecast regarding those dark clouds on the horizon. The following contains a few excerpts and my own commentary. If this seems long, please pardon the rantings of a married male. (A tip o' the hat to Tom Ellis.)

Anonymous User writes "Do you think maybe Jeb's already courting the feminazi vote for his anticipated 2008 Presidential bid?
From the Miami Herald today --
"One day after an exhaustive autopsy sought to end much of the controversy over Terri Schiavo's life, and eventual death, Gov. Jeb Bush said he plans to ask prosecutors to investigate whether her husband took too long to call for help on the night she collapsed in 1990.
A lawyer for Michael Schiavo called the governor's comments ''disgusting'' and said there was no delay in the husband's call for help."

It was refreshing to hear Don and Mike ("The Don and Mike Show" is a popular, syndicated afternoon talk show that airs in the major metropolitan areas in the US, including DC) today on the radio discuss how Mother's Day is a national holiday while Father's Day is considered at best a Hallmark occasion. They took some callers and took a few of them on, too. I hope some of you had a chance to hear it yourselves.

This story is utterly chilling. Some excerpts:
'"Members of the workshop said for spells to be powerful it required a sacrifice of a male child unblemished by circumcision," the report said.
'Contributors said boys were being trafficked into the UK for this purpose, but did not give details because they said they feared they would be "dead meat" if they told any more.'
Girls are not left out, either, it seems:
"There were also claims that youngsters were being smuggled into the UK as domestic slaves and for men with HIV who believed if they had sex with a child they would be cleansed."
"It [ie, this story] follows the case of a girl tortured by her guardians for being a witch."

Just as expected, she and her idiot fiancé will profit from all of this."

This past Thursday Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) introduced the Violence Against Women Act of 2005 in the Senate. A similar bill is expected to be introduced in the House of Representatives in the next few days.
The proposed law, known as VAWA 2005, ignores the hundreds of thousands of men who are victims of domestic violence. This ideologically-loaded bill proposes to expand the previous VAWA legislation by taking the male = batterer, female = victim message and carrying it to children and youth, American Indians, and college students around the country. By our calculations, the bill carries a taxpayer price tag of $842 million a year.

Ray writes "If the government report in this news story is concerned about targeting preschoolers who grow up to be bullies, does that mean the children of gender feminists will be 1st in line for remedial correction?
Excerpt:
'CHILDREN as young as three are to be singled out by nursery staff if they display aggressive behaviour or have a family background of criminality, according to a government report.'"

Champion75 writes "I am a new member. Here's an unabashed male-bashing web site I've come across. Also of interest is a list of sponsors, including match.com and lavalife.com. That these seemingly mainstream websites would even associate with such a blatantly sexist domain is beyond disgusting. It just shows you how little regard there is for true equality these days. Nevertheless, I encourage all of you to put these negligent sponsors on notice (I already have) that we will not give business to any company that condones and supports prejudiced web sites such as manhaters.com."

Miletus Prime writes "This story was posted on the yahoo home page under the "In the News" section. The title was "Mother Explains Fatal Pit Bull Mauling". Notice the reporter simply accepts what the Mother says as the "Explantion" Imagine what would happen if a father locked his 12 year daughter in the basement with a hostile male pit bull and a female pit bull in heat. Imagine that the father then propped the door shut with a shovel. Imagine that the father left the house to run some errands. The mother simply writes off the incident by saying that it was just her son's time to go. The reprter apparently buys it."

Anonymous User writes "If you are divorced and paying alimony please visit http://www.endalimonynow.org/ and sign up. There is a national effort underway to challange the constitutionality of alimony
which subjects men to involuntary servitude which is outlawed by the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution. This subject has never been reviewed by or ruled on by the Supreme Court, and the goal of this group is to get this issue before the court for a ruling, so that men can get their lives back."

Anonymous User writes:"Mistreatment and Harassment of Elders (Elder Abuse) in India
by Sumanth
Elder abuse, the mistreatment and torture of of older people, though a manifestation of the timeless phenomenon of inter-personal violence is prevalent in India. Still, there is no systematic collection of statistics or prevalence studies, crime records, journalistic reports, social welfare records and small scale studies to provide evidence on existence of abuse, neglect and financial exploitation of elders.
This is an extremely sorry state of affairs. We all will grow old sooner or later. Imagine, being mistreated, verbally abused, denied proper food, proper mediaction and care by younger members of family. Older people are indeed in a very helpless situation with eroding social values system in India. We all must have come across at least one or two cases of elder abuse or mistreatment in our neighbourhood."

Ray Blumhorst writes "A Long Days Journey into Hopelessness
(Happy Disenfranchised Father's Day)
"I heard the news again today," and men are still maligned in every blurb. Even in the stories coming from people sympathetic to the plights and rights of men, the depressing details of male realities leaves one with a sinking feeling in his soul. If you read the propaganda from the gender feminists and their toady politicians, and newscasters, the pain in your stomach leaves you curled up in a knot. It’s fashionable to batter men, then ignore the whole lot."

Underage writes "Great news everyone. A man by the name of Jon Scieszka has made a site in honour of helping boys to read. On the site he lists a few reasons why boys fall behind in reading, and how you can help improve the issue. Very male-friendly from what I've noticed. Anyway, I think we should all be happy about this because this is great news, so take a look at Jon's site right here."
