The Media mens_issues writes "CNN wants to hear from male victims of domestic violence. If you were a victim within the last three years, this is your chance to present the other side of the domestic violence issue.

This information is from a newsletter sent out by Chuck Corry of the Equal Justice Foundation."

Subject: EJF notice - CNN looking for abused men
Date: Tue, 27 Dec 2005

Charles,

My name is Angelena and I am a producer at CNN's Paula Zahn Now program.

We are working on a story about battered men and I got your name from Lisa who works with DV victims. I have also talked to Marc Angelucci and several others.

I would like to talk to you about your experience helping men who have experienced domestic violence.

I can be reached at 212-275-8340 or I am happy to call you if you give me a good number. I look forward to hearing from you.

Angelena

I received the above from Angelena Abate with CNN and spoke with her on the phone today. She would like to speak to men who have been physically abused by their wives or girlfriends within the past three years and are willing to discuss their experience.

Given CNN's global coverage I would assume this invitation includes men in the many other countries the EJF works with. Also please feel free to forward this to your local lists if you think any in your group would possibly be interested.

Her phone number and email address are given above if you meet this criteria, and would like to talk about it, please contact her directly.

Several observations that I feel are important:

1. I've never seen a program on battered women that was limited to the last three years. Why this one?

2. I would suggest that some sort of monitoring of this female 'journalist's' efforts be initiated. Possibly, Glenn could interview her and some of the respondents after she runs her piece. The probability that this, at minimum, turns into another 'how this hurts women' piece would seem to be too high. Given the current state of affairs vis-a-vis PBS and BTS, I think this only prudent.

of course this is a setup - it's CNN for god's sake -- that's worse than PBS.

It will be full of one-sided lies and excuses and white-washing and fakery and all the other liberal garbage.

This will not be truthful coverage.

Hint: Only three years.

More Hint: Men from other country's invited (that's to make it look like it doesn't happen in the USA and how our laws protect men, etc. - let's cloud the issue up even more).

Why don't they interview my father?? When his ex-wife assaulted him in Oregon the cops at first refused to arrest her because it was the day that the new federal anti-stalking law went into effect and the Hermiston Police Department didn't want to become national news for arresting a woman on the VAWA charge!!!!!

The prosecutor dropped the charges - for the same reason. Called it a "civil" matter.

And people wonder why I am so radically full of hate for this system you call justice!!!!

Hey - Let me send you the police reports!!!!!

Want to see the injustice? The lies?

Screw CNN and its coverage. Me, I'll just keep carrying my burning torch, thank you.

I feel the same way. I do not trust it, at all.
I could be wrong, but passed experiences, especially with news media networks, has taught me to be very wary.

I am just guessing and hoping I am wrong but I just bet this misandry spreading prosecutor (District Attorney?) was re-elected to office and at least 50% of his vote was from men voters.

Real men have to stop buying the rope these femitwat apparatchiks use to hang us with!

You are not alone. That guy with the truck sign(s) was working on more today. I think we are going to see a lot more public protest against this kind of thing in very prominent places. It does take a long time to make those truck signs, but the rainy season is starting in CA. Spring should be interesting. Hang in there, things are going to change.

Another hint: They mention "men battered by their wives/girlfriends". Funny that the domestic violence against men definition is physical violence only while the DV against women is wide open and quite varied.

Screw CNN and its coverage. Me, I'll just keep carrying my burning torch, thank you.

CNN has a long history of downplaying the suffering of men while playing up the suffering of women. CNN cannot be trusted, especially not on gender issues.

it's good that CNN is reaching out to abused men...but not as a publicity stunt, in the end, just like the women, they need to go back further because domestic violence has been going on for ages! I'm still a little distrustful of them nonetheless.
