Nowegian Government On the Verge...

News ... of madness, or so it seems. Story here.

Norway has said it might close down companies that fail to meet proposed boardroom quotas for women.

The new coalition government in Oslo said it was considering introducing a law which would require 40% of boardroom posts to be filled by women.

.
"It is a question of power," the spokeswoman said, insisting that several surveys had found that companies where both sexes were strongly represented on the board were more profitable.

The doers and thinkers in their societies will eventually leave. Then what will they do? They might as well get the taliban to come in and run things.

It's interesting that feminists can still get away with making public, vehemently sexist statements like - "For a woman to get in a man must get out. It is not difficult to find qualified women."

What would happen if it read like this --

"For a Christian to get in a Jew must get out. It is not difficult to find qualified Christians."

Feminism = Fascism and it's becoming clearer every day.

1) They have 6-12 children per man-woman/girl couple
2) Europeans have 0-1 children per man-feminist/woman couple
3) Muslim men, as a whole, don't like feminism; it is part of the religion of the infidel.

The native women respecting europeans will simply be out populated... and hopefully (for their sake) find their feminist women hanging on lamp poles.

This story sounds like something from a satire like Jonathon Swift or Monty Python. It is difficult to believe that a first world government would seriously draft a law as absurd as this.

It is obviously going to have a negative impact on the NoRwegian economy, for several reasons:

(1) The quality of management will be reduced as relatively unqualified women are forced into boardrooms to meet quotas. This will result in poorer company profitability, and increased bankruptcy, leading to company closure and job losses.

(2) Perfectly healthy companies employing hundreds or even thousands of ordinary working women and men will be forcibly closed down by the government, forcing everyone out of work and on to welfare, the cost of which will have to be met by the NoRwegian taxpayer.

(3) In order to avoid the quotas, NoRwegian companies will simply relocate abroad, and foreign companies will choose not to go to NoRway. The country will become an economic pariah state, thus impoverishing the country, and forcing more ordinary people out of work.

Of course, a handful of already-privileged women will benefit in the short term, by being handed top boardroom jobs on a platter. However, this must be weighed against the social costs of increased poverty and unemployment. The negative consequences of long-term unemployment include increased alcohol and drug abuse, increased crime, reduced public health, both physical and mental, increased suicide, increased domestic violence, reduced nutrition standards among the population, family and social breakdown, reduced school performance among impoverished children, leading in turn to inherited unemployment and poverty for the next generation.

The government's tax revenue will diminish due to less economic activity, at the same time that its costs will increase as the welfare and law enforcement budgets soar. It is a recipe for not only economic, but also civic, suicide. Of course, a handful of rich feminists will benefit. So that's OK then.

This story is a good example of the feminist tendency to get the facts wrong.

several surveys had found that companies where both sexes were strongly represented on the board were more profitable.

Where are these surveys? Are they by any chance examples of the kind of advocacy research described by Christina Hoff Sommers in her book 'Who Stole Feminism?', in which feminists design 'surveys' to produce the answers they want? Show us these surveys. Put your evidence on the table. What are you scared of?

There is an obvious question to be asked - if companies employing large numbers of female directors are more profitable, then why don't all companies do it already? The business community is a ruthlessly competitive environment, and profits are the principal measure of success. Why on earth would a government need to force the business community to make more money? These left-wing feminists display an ignorance of basic economic facts, an ignorance all the more alarming given that they are in positions of government.

This story shows the feminist tendency to favour half-baked conspiracy theories over economic and social reality.

Of course the supposed increased profitability is nothing but a smokescreen. It is really just about 'jobs for the girls'. NoRwegian feminists are engaging in a very bold campaign of cronyism, jeopardising the entire future of their country in order to hand out sinecures to their privileged friends.

Part of me hopes they will succeed. It will be a brutal social experiment resulting in widespread human suffering, but the day will come, perhaps decades from now, when the world will witness what an unmitigated disaster it was. In the meantime, the rest of us can sit back in bitter amusement and watch NoRway slide off the map.

Another obvious consequence of this is that NoRway's brightest and best will desert their homeland to look for jobs elsewhere. This will apply particularly to talented NoRwegian men. The feminists who evidently dominate NoRwegian politics are creating a NoRwegian brain-drain, and the rest of us can look forward to an influx of new talent. This will simply hasten NoRway's decline relative to its competitors.

The story is also a good example of how the emphasis has changed within the feminist movement from 'equal opportunities' to 'equal outcomes'. There was a time when feminists demanded equal opportunities, but now that they have them, do they go home and do something else? No. They simply make more demands. They sieze upon (usually questionable) statistics about who does what job, and if it suits them - only if it suits them - they will shout 'Conspiracy!'

Ther will never be perfect gender equality across every economic sector. It is an impossible demand, and feminists know it. But as long as there is a slight gender imbalance somewhere, feminists have a guaranteed meal ticket.

There are many jobs done predominantly by men which feminists are not in the least concerned about - low status, dangerous badly-paid jobs. You never hear feminists demanding a woman's right to work in the sewers, do you? Or to collect garbage? It is only the high-income, high-status professions that they are concerned about. Funny that.

Equally, there are jobs predominantly done my women which feminists seem not to notice. Nurses, midwives, school-teachers are predominantly women. Where are the screeches of protest? I hear nothing. Female models are paid vastly more than male ones. Who screams about the pay gap? No-one. It is simply about accruing more and more privilege for themselves. Justice has nothing to do with it.

There are very good reasons why most people in the boardroom are men. Men work harder. Men work longer hours. They make more personal sacrifices in terms of leisure, lifestyle and family. They dont take time off work to have children. Society (including women) judges men largely in terms of their career success, which means that men have more incentive to pursue their career than women do. Let us not forget that they do it also to please their demanding wives. Consequently, more men than women rise to the top. See 'Why Men Earn More' by Warren Farrell.

Of course feminists don't see it this way. All they can see is a childish conspiracy theory, a Victorian melodrama in which a swooning virgin is chained to the railway tracks by an evil black-cloaked male villain, and they scream in outrage.

The bald figures are not the whole story. If men have more job status than their wives, the wives enjoy much better quality of life, and of course they live longer. Men earn most of the money, but women spend most if it. It is women who make the overwhelming majority of purchasing decisions. Women also legally own most of the property. Men accrue property and transfer it into their wife's name to protect it from bankruptcy and taxation. Feminists never mention these things. What selective memories they have.

I will watch NoRway with interest.

They benefit from their husband's advancements in the work place, and therefore are hurt when less qualified women are given what should be his raises and promotions. Do these women stand up against this injustice? Surely some do, but many don't.

Many women will support policies that unfairly help other women they don't even know. If they thought about it, maybe they would realize they have been had and are ultimately hurting themselves and their families, not to mention society in general.
