I know in the US, when protesters are arrested, they are usually let off with little or no penalty. Al Sharpton, et al, during the Vieques protests this past summer are an exception. I don't condone this dismissal of penalties by the courts, but in light of this 'tradition' the police chief may have been motivated other than by the sex of his attacker to be so magnanimous.

I agree with you, frank. Still, all of us males deep down know that an attack against out genitals IS a sexual assault, no matter how Hollywood portrays it. I really wish they'd find that woman and prosecute the hell out of her.
She has a right to protest. She has no right to violently and sexually attack someone who is attempting to do his job.

I don't buy it.
In this country, PEACEFUL protestors are often let off with little or no penalty. I'd sure like to know where you get the idea that protestors, who violently attack the police, are let off with a slap on the wrist. (I don't mean tossing a stone from a distance; I mean directly, violently attacking the police in a way that causes them severe bodily harm and results in hospitalization.)
All the women who commit these violent sexual assaults on the police should be given hard time in a nice Thai prison. The male cops, who let them off, are fools.
It's lunacy to make excuses for this.
