NOW Launches Counterattack Against FaFNY, Sackson Horde
posted by Matt on 01:07 PM April 12th, 2006
Inequality Following is part of Glenn Sacks' April 12, 2006 newsletter. It calls for action on the NYS Shared Parenting Bill, so I though it was too important not to post, even though many MANN regulars get his newsletter.

In response to over 7,000 calls and letters to the New York Assembly Committee on Children & Families in support of A330, the New York Shared Parenting Bill, the New York State Chapter of the National Organization for Women and Stop Family Violence have launched a counterattack. In both cases, it's the usual feminist hysterics about savage males and innocent, saintly, victimized females.

As during our Campaign Against PBS's Father-Bashing Breaking the Silence, NOW is not able to match our numbers. However, their counterattack is still problematic. This is because the Assembly committee members began blocking emails from our supporters after last week's wave, and we stopped faxing the committee members two weeks ago at their request. I don't blame them--staffers told our activists that the deluge prevented them from being able to get any work done.

However, the result is that at this point the committee members are pretty much just hearing from feminist opponents of A330, even though we have far more supporters. As a remedy, I suggest you call the committee members yourselves and send them faxes and emails independently. These aren't blocked and will get through. To call, fax, and email the committee members, click here.

A330, the New York Shared Parenting Bill, is sponsored by the Coalition of Fathers and Families New York, the New York affiliate of the American Coalition for Fathers & Children. To learn more about the bill, see my co-authored column Shared Parenting Bill Would Help New York's Children of Divorce (Albany Times Union, 3/28/06) and NOW president Marcia Pappas' Joint custody bill not in child's interest.  Again, to contact the committee members, click here.

So how much taxpayer's money has Stop Family Violence gotten? How can a 501 c3 support man-hating legislation and oppose gender neutral legislation?

If one penny of my federal tax dollars are going to further the propaganda of Stop Family Violence, then someone should prosecute this anti-male, anti-traditional family scamming.

The form letter says "If you have not been involved in a major way in the lives of the children during the marriage".

How can someone make such a blanket statement about Dad's and their kids? Unfortunately It takes lawyers and a legal industry to establish otherwise.

Their M.O. is to tendentiously define terms such as "child care", "involved in a major way" in a way that will inevitably lead to a pre-determined conclusion of women being the "primary" caregivers, and tricking you into conceding their definition as the true one. Once you've conceded their definition of "primary" and "child care" - they've made you acknowledge mothers to be more important and thus deserving of ever increasing privileges (which is what feminists crave). Don't play into their hands. Mothers are not the "primary" caregivers of children. Being "involved" in children's lives is not defined by who gets the privilege of spending more time with them (and thus having to work less), but who is contributing the most to their welfare in ALL areas, including financial, emotional, educational, etc.
