Men are expendable, Women are protected. Men have always been the mules of the slave world, study history. If Women are not catered to the birth rate drops, hence less slaves. But what happens when even Women are tired of being manipulated, the birth rate drops. Don't believe me Folks, do your history lessons. If they don't cater to Women, they have less viable slaves to manipulate. But, the statistics will prove that even the Women are tired of living a lie. Hence my motto, we must "all" work together to change the tide........"It is a good day to die!"

The argument hits the feminists with reasoned arguments. They can't deal with that. It is good to read a fact-based rebuttal to that myth.

Yea, this more recent article is definitely better than the one she did about a week before, which had me emailing Sahadi to point out what I think is Farrell's strongest argument (which she neglects to mention), namely that if women were really paid less then any business which hired men couldn't compete with those which hired women, and the wages would self-correct because then you'd have less demand for men and more demand for women.

I also always like to point out that since women spend 80% of the discretiounary income in this country (i.e., women are the shoppers) there must be a huge transfer of wealth from men to women going on which is never accounted for in these "wage disparity" pieces. Part of men's activism IMO should include calls for spending equality. But men haven't strip-malled the country because we like to shop...

The free market has spoken: women are only worth about 75% of what men are. And if you want a house built or some asphalt put down, well, four women can't do the job that three men can.

There's still a sickening undercurrent of "women are still victims" to this piece, as well as in the others on the same site related to the article. Still, better than nothing, I suppose.

Even some of us who post here may believe that, as the article says, "women are still the primary caregivers". Well, it depends on how you define 'giving care'. Yes it may be true, that when a couple is walking in the local mall, it is usually the woman who is carrying the child; or that in the home, it is the mother who more often than the man cuddles the child (I don't know, is this itself true?).
But folks, there is more to caregiving than direct nursing activity. How about, for example, that it is true (at least from my experience knowing other families), that the father is more likely to teach the child a hobby? (at least a male child). Why doesn't that count as giving care? Or how about the fact that fathers are more often the ones responsible for providing discipline (at least for an older male child)?? That is care too, isn't it?
Why, when men work longer hours to provide for their family (as the article implies), are they ACCUSED of 'not being there' for the child, instead of being praised for their financial support??
I am getting tired of the anti-male stereotypes such as these.
The 'supermom' idea has become embedded in our psyches. Fascinating.

providing financial security for your family is more important than wiping someone's nose or cooking an apple pie. security is the foundation of fatherhood.
don't let anyone tell you that your 50 hours per week is NOT giving care. It is VITAL.

"One factor may be scarcity. In fields like engineering, a company may get one woman and seven men applying for a job, Farrell said. If the company wants to hire the woman, they may have to pay a premium to get her.

That's because she may have more competing offers than her male counterparts. The reason: not only is she a top performer who can boost a company's profitability but employing her helps a company improve its equal-opportunity standing, which in turn can help it secure government contracts."

Notice the presumption that the one and only female engineer is highly sought after because ...... she is a "top performer." This is such sophism, in the real world she is more likely to have earned her degree by the skin of her teeth or be ranked somewhere in the middle of her male engineering peers. The only reason a company is paying top-dollar to recruit her is not so much because she is a "top performer" but because they want to be able to secure government contracts. In the end it's all politics, and politcs are a lousy way to get things done.

What ends up happenning is the company ends up having to contract work out to one of the other more qualified male engineers of the orignal seven candidates (one whom they orignally wanted to hire but couldnt) Thus forcing the company to perhaps bid a little more than they really need to on the government contract so that they may cover the high cost of this feckless female engineer in their mist. And in the end who do think ends up absorbing the cost of that female engineer's over-priced salary - me and you the taxpayer.

Politics is a lousy way to get things done!

Meanwhile the female engineer is running around the firm thinking she is hot stuff, thinking she is an invaluable asset because she is one of the highest paid when in reality she is but a political pawn to secure government contracts. She cannot understand why she has been relegated to performing menial tasks now that the government contract has been secured. The harsh reality is, she has outlived her usefulness, and now it is time for the real and more competent engineers to step into the breech and get some work done.

Then while she is sitting in the corner performing her menial tasks and brooding over being left out, she sues the engineering firm for millions and wins.

Politics are a lousy way to get things done!
