I guess the ? to ask here is, if this were a man, with the history of sleep-walking, etc., would he also be released like this after trying to open an airplane door, even if he were supposedly sleep-walking (which we don't know if the woman who did this was doing anyway)?

My gut tells me: no. He'd still be in jail and facing very serious charges.
