So this gal had a falling out with her mother and moved.
Nothing in the article indicated an attempt to make the disappearence look like foul play as the runaway bride did; or lying to investigating authorities. Thus, there is probably no crime committed on her part.
She just had a falling-out with her mother and moved without a word of communication.
Yes, she should kick in for the cost of searching for her, but don't count on that. I don't find it easy to believe that the statute of limitations will allow a lawsuit. Criminal prosecution is also iffy.

She didn't break the law.

She didn't make up a story about being kidnapped and/or raped.

She was a spoiled brat who was partying to much in college and mom and dad pulled the cash flow.

In retaliation she refused to have anything to do with them to cause them maximum emotional pain.

Was it a shitty thing to do? Yea, but she's not ANYTHING like the "Runaway Bride".

She was even using her own name and Social Security Number.
