Shes drunk, shes abusive, the law still says ur the abuser and shes the victim. Why not just beat the shit out of her ?

Punch her in the eye, kick her in the groin, grab squeeze and twist her breast.

When she wakes from the drunkness, she doens't remember anything. When you go to court, and get sentenced, you will get the sentenced RIGHTFULLY so (meaning doing something and get sentenced is better than doing nothing being the victim and still get sentenced the same amount of time)

I notuced on one of the early pages that she wouldn't agree to a divorce unless the writer "coughed up a crore" (a delightful turn of phrase that you won't often hear in, say, British papers!). That's 10,000,000 rupees, which got me to thinking about exchange rates.

A rupee is about 2c American, which means she demanded $200,000!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't consumer prices much lower in India than in most other English-speaking countries? I'm guessing that two hundred thousand dollars is probably four years' pre-tax income for a writer old enough to have been married for a while; how about in India? It's got to be a lifetime of earnings.

You are right. A crore is ten million. And here in India, if I get that kind of money, I don't need to work for the rest of my life!

While I understand and respect your anger about this situation, I disagree with your response. Non-violent protest can solve this terrible injustice. More people just have to start speaking out. Sadly, a lot of men don't seem capable of summoning the strength or will to do this.
