Spain and No-Fault

It's not that I don't think it's a bad idea to help more around the house, but it's THIS that caught my attention:

"This will be a good way of reminding people what their duties are. It is something feminists have been wanting for a long time."

Failure to meet the obligations will be taken into consideration by judges when determining the terms of divorces. Men who refuse to do their part may be given less frequent contact with their children.

That should guarantee that, when the law - which will also make divorce proceedings faster and easier - is voted on in parliament in the next few weeks, the obligation to share domestic chores will be added to the statute books.

So, Spain is headed toward a No-Fault divorce society. I don't think anyone here will disagree that no-fault divorce effectively cut the legs out from under traditional families and father's rights. Men of Spain, I spell relief:
"M a r r i a g e S t r i k e".

Forcing anyone to do anything under point of bayonet is NOT the way to get someone to see your side of the argument. Once this law is implemented, I'd be interested to see the crime statistics from this year and from 10 years down the road. Do they really think that separating a father from his children is only punishing the father???? JESUS CHRISTOS, what are they thinking????"

Spain forces women to do more sexwork

Spanish women will have to learn to be more active in their sex lives under the terms of a new law designed to strike a blow at centuries of Latin women’s sexually teasing their men.

The law, due to be passed this month, is likely to provoke a revolution in family affairs in a country where 40% of women reportedly do no sexwork at all. It will oblige women to "share sexwork responsibilities”, according to the draft approved by the Spanish justice commission.

This will become part of the marriage contract at civil wedding ceremonies later this year. "The idea of equality within marriage always stumbles over the problem of sex in the house," said Margarita Uría, of the Basque Nationalist party, who was behind what is an amendment to a new divorce law. Women have been lagging in this department for centuries while men have wanted sexwork to be a daily activity. We thought it was only fair if we forced the men to do housework that we also forced the ladies to do their share of sexwork."

"This will be a good way of reminding people what their duties are. It is something feminists have been wanting for a long time." (so true ;>))

Failure to meet the obligations will be taken into consideration by judges when determining the terms of divorces. Women who refuse to do their part may be given less frequent contact with their children.

Spanish men want sex five times more often than their wives. Even where both have jobs outside the home, Spanish women still avoid sexual contact to the great frustration of the men which causes great harm to the marital relationship.

A study five years ago by Spain's Centre for Sociological Investigation concluded that wives spent an average of only 13 minutes a week satisfying their husbands sexual needs. This needs to change.

The change to the Spanish legal code will see sexwork obligations added to a list of marital duties that currently includes fidelity, living together, housework, backrubs, shopping time, mandatory compliments, compulsory feelings discussion, and helping one another.

The initiative has received the backing of all Spain's political parties, including those of a conservative or traditionally Catholic bent.

Ms Uría said that the Socialists, who run Spain's minority governwoment and voted against the clause when the draft went through the commission, had told her that they, too, were now in favour of it.

That should guarantee that, when the law - which will also make divorce proceedings faster and easier - is voted on in parliawoment in the next few weeks, the obligation to increase sexwork will be added to the statute books.

Why relating amount of contact with the children after divorce based with what happened with your ex during the marriage ?

It doesn´t cease to amaze what little room there´s left within the law to have a successful marriage.

There´s so many incentives for women to marry (and divorce soon after) and so many for men not to ever marry, that it is hard to understand why there are any marriages at all.

The bottom line is that there will be no way to PROVE what housework you did or didnt do, so your relationship with your kids is more on the outs.

While I am outraged that the State would intervene in something like this, it is not surprising given that we live in a matriarchical world. Female chauvinism is rampant in societies the world over and has been for centuries. My only question is, will Spain legislate that women must share in the performance of all of the things that men do in a marriage? Fix the car, build a fence, deck, etc., shovel the snow, repair the house, fix the computer, clean the gutters, fix the appliances, assemble and move furniture, put gas in the car and check the oil (a rare task among women), carry the heavy boxes/bags from the grocery store, catch and dispose of spiders, mice and other vermin, etc. etc. What's good for the gander is good for the goose!

The most striking thing is that this law comes from an extreme right-wing political party, thus creating a new trend : the future man-haters will belong to the right, and the MRAs to the left in 30 years from now, I'm convinced of it.

This is just gross. And it's reported as if its some kind of progress, rather than femifascism. I'm all for the marriage strike. But I'm also looking for other ways to protest.

Also, I say that if a married women consider sex with her husband to be work, she doesn't appreciate him enough. It's about time women got the concept of finding joy in your spouse's joy. A woman doesn't even have to have an orgasm to do that. She just has to actually care about her husband, and not treat him like a walking wallet or a domestic servant.

If they are going to pass this law, they also need to pass a law that mandates wives make an effort to contribute to households financially by working outside the home. Women who refuse to do so will be held in breach of the marital contract and be awarded less time with the children.

Same old shit. Choices for women, obligations for men. As for women, say one thing, do another, then expect everyone to have sympathy for you when you cry about it afterwards.

Down with chivalry, I say. Fuck marriage; let them feed and support themselves. I keep a good household on my own already.
