...that the gender of their attackers was not mentioned or implied. It would be interesting to know.

Usualy when the gender of a perp goes un-noted it is usualy a female(s). So I wouldn't be suprised if the attackers were women. But I wouldn't be suprised if they were men, either.
But I have found that when women do things like this their gender is obscured. I don't know exactly why that is. It's bad for female P.R., I guess and the media doesn't want that because it makes empathy for women and women's issues harder to peddel to the public. And if there's one thing I know about the media it has a very radical feminist agenda that it pushes.
Speaking of the feminists, they must think that this is a very good thing, seeing how they love and get off on casteration and all.
Thundercloud.

I typed "male genital mutilation" in the search window at Amnesty International and this is what came up,
MALE GENITAL MUTILATION
It appears that Amnesty International has become nothing more than a mouth piece for gender feminist propaganda, when it comes to human rights for males.
STOP THE VIOLENCE AGAINST MEN
Sincerely, Ray

In the 3rd paragraph, under "Issue Background," in this .pdf flyer, Amnesty International talks about sexual violence against female virgins being used as "barbaric cure" (my term) for AIDS here .
In my opinion, it appears that the culture and a lack of education are much more the problem than "gender," but in the hate language coming out of the gender feminist world everything is always blamed on "Patriarchy." In my opinion, it's too bad AI wastes so much time on "gender propaganda," when they could be working to help all of humanity instead of just the radical gender feminist agenda.

This article from AI does include males as victims of the Sudanese genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid, you name it,
here .
"Kill the men, and rape the women" seems to be the dominate theme of those commiting the atrocities in the Sudan, although I'm sure there are variations to suit the diverse practices of individual barbarians.
"The perpetrators of the worst crimes in Sudan, including Darfur, must be prosecuted to ensure lasting peace.
"‘We cannot have peace of mind if we do not know what happened to our husbands and brothers’", exclaimed the wife of a man who “disappeared” in Sudan to Amnesty International.
Despite 21 years of conflicts, more than 2 million dead, 6 million forced to flee their homes, thousands of women and children abducted and/or raped and hundreds of villages destroyed and relatives still missing, not one perpetrator of war crimes or crimes against humanity is known to have been brought to justice in Sudan."
