But it's still a crock!

It's amazing the ways we can come up with to excuse women from proper punishment.

Not because I don't think this will reduce her recidivism, but there is another reason we have law, and that is called punishment for wrong doing. I just don't see the just punishment in this. Other problems with this, aside from some obvious reminders about campaigns to sterilize the mentally ill in Germany ... I don't think they would be offering a 5 month probation sentence to a man who killed a 5 week old, even if he did have a vascectomy. And in terms of the article, having the tubes tied is in no way even remotely comparable to chemical castration -- sexual enjoyment is possible after tubal ligation, it's not after chemical castration.

If a man killed a 5 week old they would be calling for the death penalty, and it would make no difference if he had a vasectomy, if it was his own kid, or someone elses. He could be depressed as all sin and on prozac and 10 other medications at the time, and that would also make no difference. He would be looking at 25 to life, life without parole, or the death penalty.

Sacred Salt,

I was going to reply this this article but you said all that could be said about this stupid judgement.

Well put.

Two kids in the custody of the murderers mom, four more in state custody, one runaway.

It looks like the court was worried she'd repeat offend, hence the neutering. Why does she still have access to two of her kids and custody (officially, of the runaway) of another?

No mention of any father at all, no mention of any fathers family at all. Even if you didn't get the guys name the first time, 7 kids with no fathers?
