Boys Falling Behind in Education
posted by Matt on 09:40 PM January 22nd, 2005
Boys/Young Men Anonymous User writes "Here is an excellent article regarding boy's lagging behind girls in education. Please e-mail the author and thank her for reporting on this important issue."

Ed. Note: Fascinating, this piece, when Harvard's president is knuckling to the feminists (see here). He too can be reached by e-mail, at lawrence_summers-at-harvard.edu . While writing to thank the author of the article on boys' education, why not also let Summers know about its existence as well?

It's heartening to see that at least a few journalists are starting to pay attention to males, other than to demonize them.

Unfortunately, leading univerisities like Harvard, with its billions of dollars of endowment, are under the boot of male-hating feminazis. Thank God my daughter isn't qualified to get into Harvard!

This is pretty much the way the feminists planned it, I.M.O.
They WANT boys to do worse than girls in school.
How else can women become the "dominant gender", as they like to put it?
Boys MUST fail.

Girls however, exhibit their relational issues later, when things like boasting and speaking your mind clash with ideas of docility and noncompetitiveness, which schools have traditionally rewarded in girls.

Hogwash! This is just plain idiotic , and reflects that this poster hasn't done his/her homework. All you have to do is go in the college or university book store (where teachers and instructors get books for their education), walk into the subject areas that fall under liberal studies and pick up text book after text book to see all kinds of biased half truths and misinformation spun just like the misandrist garbage coming out of women's studies programs.

I did this just before Christmas myself and was disgusted at the extent of the bias in favor of females and against men, such as the "In America a woman is battered every 15 seconds," but no continuation of the intimate partner statistic from that study for men.

Schools and colleges have become nothing more than evil, yes evil, indoctrination grounds where males are consistently maligned and short changed, and females showered with encouragement and privilege. There are over 700 taxpayer funded women's studies programs on college campuses spreading man-hating lies in thousands if not tens of thousands of college courses. Only one (1) men's studies program has ever existed, that I'm aware of in Washington state, and I'm not sure it's surviving.

Any time there is anything that even hints at a disadvantage for women, administrators rush to pamper the females more, while men's needs go begging. Couple this outrages bigotry against men with the misandrist propaganda that is preached by women's commissions (over 270) to indoctrinate politicians and you will begin to see the scope of the man-hating bias that exists in America today. There is only one (1) men's commission that I'm aware of, struggling to survive in New Hampshire. It is no coincidence that males are doing poorly in schools, the gender feminist agenda that exercises power and control over academia has intended it to be that way.

Sincerely, Ray

Ray,

my comment was perhaps badly worded but I think you've completely misunderstood it. It's not sarcasm, but a comment on the quotes included in the original article. Those quotes from women expressed the view that girls were still suffering too, a misdirection from the plight of boys in my opinion. I'm on your side in this!!!

Thanks for the clarification. Sorry, not to have seen that perspective.

It's interesting to note the reaction of women (including feminists) when the impact of male academic deficiency is discussed in terms of declining numbers of marriageable males. What will all these high-powered career women with their advanced degrees do as the percentage of educated desirable men declines? Will these women have to (gasp) marry down? The horrors!

What peeves me the most is the extreme cynicism of some women, when they read articles like this--they run from "boys are simply stupid" to "why do men have to whine as soon as they start to do a LITTLE bad?" to "now they want to help boys instead of girls!!!".... FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, we are trying to help boys AS WELL AS we have girls for the past coupla decades. Women can be so paranoid! As a society, the best interest of every group needs to be considered, NOT JUST FEMALES.

I've gotten exactly the same reaction. It shows how women-centric our whole culture has become. A lot of women freak out at the idea that everything isn't just about how to help women.

Too bad for those women. Go ahead and freak out. I'm tired of this crap.

Was he/she? I saw no indication of that. I thought he/she was being serious.

Sometimes people put sarcasm in parenthesis (), but I didn't see that either.

I didn't see any ambiguity in what he/she said.

Yeah. Even though most folks that are regulars here know me fairly well, by now, I am always careful to put "(sarcasm)" after my comments that are meant to be sarcastic. One can't read inflection on a webpage, so I think it's important to do that.

Could one of the reasons for this be that the gender feminists running our schools are just incredibly - SELFISH and PREJUDICED!

Make that "two" reasons.

More proof that males are failing educationally. I've lost the ability to count past "one."
