These “stats” always bug me. It may well be true that men cause most of the serious accidents, but that’s a given if many many more men drive or spend their lives on the road for a living. How many women versus men drive trucks, taxis, courier vans/bikes, long distance buses, or are travelling salesfolk etc etc?
I’d wager that most serious accidents happen to children whilst under the care of their mother. Are mothers more careless? Nope – but there are still more stay at home mothers than fathers, so it’s a simple function of statistics.
Now let’s see which insurances/ privileges (perceived)/perks (perceived) that we can remove from women as a gender as a result of that. You can bet your life that if it were reversed, women would be trying to find a way to do it to men.

Once again I have lost the source (so don't take it as the one absolute truth) but a German study showed that men actually cause less accidents per driven kilometer.
Men simply drive a lot more than women, at least here. And I'd be astounded if it was any different in the US or the UK.
On the other hand, these figures are influenced by the large distances driven by truck drivers, who probably cause very few accidents for their amount of driving.
Also, if the insurances say women are a "better" risk group, they're probably right because they have good risk research and won't let ideology get in its way if they can help it. When When I heard of some car insurance for female customers only, I wondered if the percentage excess was unusually high. This would fit perfectly to a group of people who don't drive much, but if they do, they have a higher risk of causing damage.

Although men are three times more likely than women to be killed in car crashes, researchers at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Public Health in Baltimore, in the US, have found that female drivers are involved in slightly more crashes than men per mile driven. Overall, men were involved in 5.1 crashes per million miles driven compared to 5.7 crashes for women, despite the fact that on average they drove 74 per cent more miles per year than women

If it cost more for a company to insure women drivers, they would not be able to charge women higher premiums than men as this form of gender discrimination would immediately be outlawed.

Men drive a lot more in the US as well. Driving and delivery jobs are below the Glass Floor. They're too demanding and difficult, coupled with low pay and prestige, for most women to consider working.
I know that within my own marriage, I do the majority of the long distance driving, and am almost always the one behind the wheel if the weather turns foul or if a trip takes us into the early morning hours.
I threw money at the problem this year and bought a second set of wheels with winter tires for my wife's SUV. As it's now her vehicle that can handle snow drifts and ice, winter driving in foul weather has become much more evenly performed.
(And yes, it galls me to be part owner of an SUV, but marriage is about comprimise, and that's what she wanted. That comprimise may change in a couple of years, I'm not willing to put children in that thing.)

this is an article about a US study that concludes the same thing your German study did. Dave K - A Radical Moderate

The European Commission announced that gender discrimination would no longer be legal in determining insurance premiums. I innocently thought that I was going to get cheaper car insurance. Angryharry predicted that the real agenda was the abolition of discrimination ONLY WHEN IT IMPACTED AGAINST WOMEN. It seems he was right. Thus, for example, it will be illegal to charge women more for health insurance even though women will claim far more money for health care than men
My message to the feminazified european commission is SEIG HEIL!
