Global warming spells the end of woman!!!
posted by Matt on 01:21 PM December 16th, 2004
News Clancy writes "Great news, men. The faster the glaciers melt, the sooner feminism will die since there will be no more women to support it. They'll all be dead. And, as simple as it was to kill the Martians in H.G. Wells 'War of the worlds', as the oceans rise from melting ice, millions of women will flounder to their death because "...often women don't know how to swim, so in a flood situation that can lead to a higher instance of death or injury,..."

Could it be that simple? Discourage all women from taking swimming lessons???? Beleive it, or not!

How in the name of God's Green Earth can EVERYTHING that happens either naturally, or un-naturally, ALWAYS be detrimental to WOMEN????? Take heart O ye men of the world for we are immortal. We ALL know how to swim!!! BWAAAA HAAAAA HAAAAAA!!!!!"

Guess these folks never saw "The Titanic", did they?

Truth is much stranger than fiction. That is why I don't bother reading fiction books. Non-fiction is far more interesting, and harder to believe. The UN I am afraid has totally lost it at this point. This is too bad since the problems of global warming are real and can be addressed. However when they use the most ridiculous means of trying to popularize it with such silliness as this, they cause people to not pay much attention. The assertion that women are harmed more than men by climate change is as ridiculous as the assertion that men are more likely to survive a shell exploding next to them than are women, and that therefore women should not be sent into combat. God decided He was finally fed up with the human race and decided to end it for good. He called up a reporter at the New York Times to tell him the news: The world would end the day after tomorrow.

The reporter tried to talk God out of it, but God was firm and wouldn't be swayed. The reporter then asked if he had an exclusive. God said that He was going to call three other newspapers.

Headlines the next day:

The New York Times: "God says world to end tomorrow; story and analysis on page B11."

The Wall Street Journal: "God says world to end tomorrow; market to close early"

USA Today: "IT'S OVER!"

The Washington Post: "God says world to end tomorrow; women and minorities hardest hit."

I agree. This is one of the most absurd things I've read in a long time, and I really thought someone was spoofing us, when I first saw it. I'm still having a hard time believing this is not somebody's idea of a practical joke that somehow made it into print.

On another note, correct me if I'm wrong, but when I took all those life saving classes a long time ago it was mentioned on more than one occasion that boobs are natural flotation devices. You'd think the U.N. would have taken that into consideration. I believe I read somewhere that women in general have a higher level of body fat then men, also contributing to their superior flotation qualities.

Of course I don't see any people in those poorer countries that tend to have much body fat to spare so the 2nd item may be somewhat a moot point.

A couple years ago a canadian production company produced a reality show recreating the lives lived by homesteaders.

They basically took two couples and dropped them in the middle of the Manitoba prairies with only the basics that the original homesteaders would have had.

They lived in tents until the men could get the homes built, they planted gardens, and plowed and sowed their fields behind a team of horses.

The job of plowing the fields was usually a two man job, one to run the team and the other to manage the plow. At one point in the program the younger couple was left on there own because the older man had been accused of sexual assault and had to leave the program ( the charges were eventually dropped *cough*) so the younger couple attempted to do the job of plowing on there own. But the horse team refused to listen the women, so she tried her hand at the plow but was physically incapable of handling the job.

So at that point she looks at the camera and says "gee i guess the traditional divisions of labour might have a real reason behind them" Which pretty much said it all. The female view of the world, that they themselves live in, is determined by what they are told and not by the clear and present evidence around them. Easy. It's called cherry picking. Despite the fact that men are more susceptible to starvation, more apt to get ill from infectious diseases, more apt to be targets of violence in times of turmoil, are less likely to be helped first in times of emergency (women & children first!), and have higher death rates due to nearly every cause of human mortality worldwide, etc... focus only on those restricted circumstances where women are at greater risk than men, even if those circumstances are uncommon and present little overall risk. At the same time, totally ignore the overwhelming global circumstance which demonstrates that the exact opposite is true!

This is the entire premise of "gender" (as opposed to euqlitarian) feminism, for those of you haven't figured it out yet. Some women think that guys should be flattered by these trends to newfound girlish behavior among some feminists. Not me! My ego is never stroked.

Even if we were to just focus on swimming, which is basically a non-issue, it would be helpful to know, that despite the fact that women allegedly are more likely not to know how to swim (from where those statistics come, I don't know), ignore the fact that they have a higher body fat content and therefore have greater non-swimming bouyancy and lower susceptibility to hypothermia. I recall several decades ago that a storm or tidal surge or something caused suddenly rising water that came rolling in from the ocean and killed large numbers of people - something like that.

Ironically, decades ago we didn't have the major feminist influence in media that we do today, and I recall the story incorrectly reporting "surging water kills a lot of "people."' Of course as we know now, the emphasis should have been the destructive effect in female's lives.

Again, I don't recall the lost lives being reported by gender, but it would be interesting to see those numbers. As we saw at the world trade center, noble, courageous men routinely risk their lives to help others in distress; the weak, the needy, etc. so it's possible there were more males killed than females.
