Request from Reader to Sign Petition
posted by Matt on 05:55 PM October 11th, 2004
Announcements MANN administrators also received a request from a reader to sign a petition addressed to Pres. Bush, the Congress, and the Supreme Court, demanding redress for the ignoring or misapplication of Constitutional principles that has resulted in the problems of fathers separated from their children, imprisoned, abused, and driven to suicide by the legal system. The note MANN admins received is below under "Read More". The link to the petition is http://www.petitiononline.com/usncpr.

Dear Sir or Madam,

There is a Petition located at http://www.petitiononline.com/usncpr asking for changes in the child custody laws in order to give parents equal rights to their children. I hope you will take the time to read the Petition and forward the link to anyone you know that would be willing to sign. It would be a big help.

Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely,

Paul W. Koda

I singed it and am glad to see so many others have already done so too. ...but we need still more signatures.

I signed it too. The radfems must be going crazy these days. Our true equal rights movement has certainly reached critical mass.

Now we just have years of hard work ahead of us.

I tried to sign it, but I kept getting the message; "Appearantly you did not sign from the petition page" or something like that and so it didn't take, I guess.
Am I doing something wrong?

I singed it as well. Petitions are fairly hard to light on the internet!! :-)

I also signed it and I didn't have to wait a minuet. I didn't even have to wait a short waltz!! :-)

Sorry, couldn't resist that :-)

While I think this sort of activism is important, a cursory reading of this petition found innumerable mistakes. I hardly think the recipients will be impressed by all the typos, incorrect quotes and incomplete sentences. Believe me, I'm not an editor either.

Unfortunately I didn't see any way to suggest corrections. As is, I feel sending this petition will do more harm then good. Unless we are trying to convince our government to be concerned because the rednecks are getting restless. :-) Come on that was a decent joke!!

Well at least we'll be proving that we really are failing in our schooling. I say send them all the poorly punctuated, grammerically garbled petitions we can muster. If they get weary of all our importuning, maybe they'll concede to some of our requests.

I sent an email to the petition author, Dee, concerning this with some examples. I wonder if you can change a petition after it's been signed?

Dee responds:

Thank you, I already had that part done. I know it has several errors and really would hope this is not the reason people are not signing it. I can not go back and have the edited version put on the petition site, once it is up that is it...I have tried and tried.

I'm not a professional writer, boy now I wish I were. Please send out my deepest apologies to all your members regarding this issues and give them comfort in knowing that a professional proof reader did "clean" up the petition. It is available for your viewing if need be.

Nobody HAS to be a professional writer. And whether it has several errors or not, has nothing to do with the content of it.
For Crissake(oops...Christ's sake)who gives a shit? What matters is content.

This is how the whole message of father's and men's rights gets put on the way side. Certain radical feminist groups ridicule organizations like F4J because of their antics, and criticize the actual NCP Action as looking like a child wrote it, and assert that we are whining like cry babies...and we buy into that stupidity and allow ourselves to get sidetracked. Why isn't anyone talking about the CONTENT?
Let's not forget, we're talking about ordinary citizens who have day to day lives like family (or what's left of the family they're fighting to hold together) work, bills etc.
They are NOT professionals, just ordinary working men and women who have the balls and the focus to take the first step to try and change things for the betterment of all of us.
They take time out of their busy lives to speak for the rest of us on the issues that, no matter if they ARE professional writers or not, stir up nothing but politically incindiary responses. Can anyone here in this group think of a more difficult issue to bring to the public eye in this day and age when radical feminism controls the airwaves and the judiciary? And all we can do is talk about SPELLING and GRAMMATICAL ERRORS?! This is a history making issue! We've got to stop nitpicking and allowing ourselves to get sidetracked and talk about the core issues!

Well said Masculiste. As a Dutchman I wouldn't even know if there are grammatical errors, but I understand the content very well. So I also signed.
