Perhaps if he had better self esteem, he would realize that he didn't need her; that he has his two children and can make a life for himself. If she really is a decent person, she'll find herself the best job she can, work long hours, and support him the best that she can. She owes him at least that much. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know where this will all end. I hope he finds happiness. It only saddens me that Letourneau may gain in all of this, and that ultimately she is the one left with the emotional power to either destroy or (perhaps seemingly) repair this young man's life. Particularly disgusting is the fact that she appears (so far as I know) entirely remorseless. She deserves everything that she got, and more. It doesn't matter how this turns out in the end. You don't take these kinds of risks with a young boy's life. Society rightfully rebukes her character. Even if Vili ends up all right in the end, it could have been worse; ergo, it's reckless endangerment.
Letourneau fits a prototype which one could label the sexually manipulative abuser.

Notice the sexual teasing, provoked anxieties regarding a young adolescent's developing masculinity, insistence on exclusively emotional thinking (to which young children are susceptible, in short part due to social conditioning), use of sexual and monetary bribes. She grabs power and control over a younger person by sexual enticement and psychological torcher. Emotions can be like weapons. (A hard lesson learned for children; those who live by the sword, often die by the sword.)
Note also the hypocrisy that she employs to manipulate ("spitting in his babies' faces"... when in fact she was legally married and had four children with her previous husband at the time she statutorily raped Vili.)
Last, Letourneau wishes to be reunited with her children. She has already demonstrated lack of restraint in her sexual attachments to children. There are some indications that she has poorly developed ethical boundaries and gravitates towards the taboo. Will her visitations be supervised? I don't even know if she is on parole.
In summary, this could turn out badly for Vili or perhaps decently. What actually happens in this specific case is more or less irrelevant. If a 12 year old child were to implore a woman to drive him at 130 mph in her car "to see what it would be like to be a race car driver" and she obliged, she would be rightfully charged with reckless endangerment, regardless of the child's assent, and regardless of whether the car came to a safe halt. A criminal took an enormous risk with this child's life. Bright line, best interest.
A young boy’s eagerness for sexual attention makes him more vulnerable to sexual exploitation, not less vulnerable as some would suggest. One can only expect that the trends towards sexual exploitation of young boys by sexually aggressive women will increase in incidence over coming generations.

Often we take cues from society as to how "bad" things are. In some uneducated countries women being raped is "political", "family business", "punishment for disobedience to a 'mate'", or she "asked for it" or even "pursued it". Maybe in those countries they haven't bothered to even STUDY the long term effects of rape or child molestation and the victims are told to "get over it" and move on.
Consider that MAO (the "great leader" of the Communists in China) would bed 11-13 year old virgins regularly. The virgins were told it was an honor. The virgin little girls were given status. These children were used by a pedophile to satisfy his personal needs and I even imagine they thought they had a relationship with "the Great Leader". After these CHILDREN were used friends would congratulate them.
Anyone think Mao's use of pre-teen little girls is made ok because societal indoctrination said it was ok? I don't.

A rather important point to end this: No one bothered to do any kind of study or research into how these little girls fared years later. No one bothered because it wasn't "relevant" at the time. No one wanted to hear their "whining" when they were "so lucky". No one studied if they had PTSD because, hey, Mao was "the Great Leader" and why were they complaining anyways ... weren't they REAL communists? (kinda like Troll girl's assertion that REAL boys like it) Why would these molestation victims say anything under these circumstances?
And many little girls LIKE being molested, right? Isn't that how a pedophile seduces them? Confusing them and using them for sex. The pedophile helps the child confuse sexual pleasure, manipulates the child's emotions, and uses the child for their own gratification.

Now, dropping all analogies: what happens if these boys molest little girls? I mean, their sex switches got turned on at a pretty early age and everyone told them it was "good", maybe they want to give this "gift" to some other 11-13 year old.

Agreed, it's seems strange to label something "rape" when the person who is statutorily raped welcomes the advances of the adult. (But that is the case for the majority of statutory rapes of young girls as well. If there is force or coersion, then the adult is charged with forcible as well as statutory rape.)
Okay, so let's not call it statutory rape. Let's call it "reckless endangerment by way of sexual contact with a minor." Heck, let's call it "Steve." It's totally irrelevant. What's relevant is that it represents gravely unethical behavior that is justifiably punishable by incarceration.
An adult woman promising a young boy a sexual encounter is like a adult man offering a minor girl a necklace, a prada bag or a moped. It's bribery and manipulation. Kids are dumb and don't know any better.
Oh yeah, and just because a child grows up to have fond memories of Mrs. Robinson doesn't mean she was doing him any favors. For example, if the kid gets distracted from schoolwork, sexual activated at a young age, etc... there can be devastating repercussions for the poor boy that he may not even realize, since he will never know how things could have been otherwise..

Who decided that "boys LIKE it?" All we ever hear from our the young men who experienced this, who say, "well, I wasn't traumatized, if that's what you're asking." Surely not every boy "likes it," do they?
What to do about a boy who feels genuinely scarred, feels they can't trust girls and women anymore? Do you tell them, "you liked it, so shut up." Or "Just get over it."
Do boys in such as a position really have the power to decide for themselves what they like? Any more than girls?

Gee that's the exact same statement made by Atilla the Hun after he raped a little girl. Are you O.K. with that too? You radical feminists have really progressed a lot since those barbaric days when a pretechnological world reduced humans to mere savages. Yes, women were savages in that era too, and not because of patriarchy. They were savages in a savage world. The conditions of existence had power and control over everyone's life.
Radical feminist troll, isn't your statement a bit of an obvious double standard, wherein unwanted touching or sex is deemed (after the fact) to be rape in the case of a female, and actual exploitive sex with a male child, as in this story, is dismissed?
The more I hear arrogant radical feminists open their mouths, the more I laugh out loud at the incredible stupidity of such a bunch of jackasses. Sadly, I laugh that I do not cry (defense mechanism), because of the human tragedy visited on men, women and children by radical feminism (as characterized in your statement). Such politically incorrect insensitivity is especially catastrophic and barbaric.

I suggest the first book you read is Professing Feminism by Daphne Patai. She taught women's studies for 10 years. To bad all women's studies teachers aren't required to read her book. There would, possibly, hopefully, be a lot less of your kind of misandry in the world if they did.
