I joined their site and they sound like "early survivors" as compared to us.
Imagine if 10 years ago the internet is as it is today, and there was just the BEGINING of the men's movement here. We were all still angry, no research had been done for us, no one had written papers, and then along came some Indian guys who said: "hey, we're been dealing with this for 20 years, can we help?"
It would be much appreciated, and it might have saved a lot of us a lot of grief.
I joined their site and will be thinking of what to say.
We need to ask them more about this law they have, what is going on, and be polite and understand their culture is very different than ours. All the while we can offer any help we can.
Give it some thought, I'm off to go back to their site to read more and then when I think I can give an intelligent post, I'll post a "hello" message.

This is my first post here and I am one of the volunteers of the above mentioned helpline.
To give you a context of the problems faced has it is something related to Dowry which I think is world Famous . Dowry is essentially reverse of the Bride price paid in many culture. Why it exhisted historically we can only conjecture and feminists can probably give the standard operation answer of "patriarchal oppression" .
In 1983 there were places where there were bride burnings in The northern part of country specially in and out of Delhi. Horrified the country enacted the now famous Law called 498a and asking the accussed to prove the innocence ( sounds familiar to you ?). In addition it was made non-bailable ( means the police comes to your home picks you , your father , your mother , borther, sister, brother in law, sister in law, nephew , neice and put them in jail) till some magistrate takes pity and grants bail and also non-cognisable ( means to consider whether the trial should go or not the quality of evidence is not considered at all)
Section 498a deals with harassing a women to commit sucide and harassing a women to make illegal demands for Property and all the relatives came under this purview.
Of course like all laws dealing with women "mental harassment" is under purview because it is so easy to accuse and difficult to disprove and anything under the sun can be called mental harassment.
So unless the women withdraws the false allegations the trial goes on and Since the Courts are slow to move an average trials lasted around 4-6 years a waste of productivity of men in their prime times .
However the judiciary recognised that there were too many instances of wives wanting to teach a lesson and destroy the lives and hence it was recommended by Malimath committee in 2002 to at least make it bailable and cognisable before trial .
Some of the famous misused cases involve the youngest Doctor in USA of Dr Balamurugan Ambati, Chetan Chauhan Cricketeer and Manoj Prabhakar another cricketeer.
In 7 months as a volunteer of Sangyabalya I have counselled almost 150 distraught men almost 70-80 NRIs liveing in USA and UK whose parents had been put to jail falsly
We do not feel like "early survivors" but like a straw for drowning men
But yes Caped crusading and Fancy dress demonstrations is definitely on cards at the right time
We have started with two issues currently
1. Misuse of section 498a
2. Rebuttal presumption of Joint custody ( its impossible to get to visit child and yes we love our children contrary what is portrayed. 200 farmers committed suicide to get government aid for their wives and children . I haven;t heard women doing such things.
)

Having read through some of the posts and comments I think the western men can relate to being SOWRY harassed

I had not heard of SOWRY before at all. And I cannot BELIEVE that the FAMILY of the man is locked up. What the F*CK is up with that?!
