Woman lies about nazi attack
posted by Matt on 01:30 PM July 14th, 2004
News plebius writes "This story from the BBC tell of a woman who lied about being attacked and covered with swastikas. This shows you the lengths that some women will go to for attention." Ed. commentary: And it also shows the speed with which people will believe them without corroborating evidence. French newspapers were quick to press with this story, needing days later to retract it based on investigations by the police that showed her story was false. Now we'll see if she is even prosecuted. (She'll probably write a book or something saying why she did it and still get lots of sympathy for essentially perpetuating a public fraud. Ugh.) -- Matt

A similar case in Denver (Score:2)

About two years ago there was a similar case in Denver. Apparently a young lesbian had been attacked by skinheads in the city. I think that they supposedly had carved a swastika on her or something. Later it turned out that her story was false, and that the injuries were self inflicted.

I recall going to the NOW site at the time, and seeing the alleged attack as one of their postings about discrimination and violence against lesbians. I went back later to see if there would be a retraction, but didn't see one. Funny that.

Have we short memories . . . or what ?

Only a matter of days ago, we had posted on this site . . . a similar story about a female who "faked" her own kidnap. Now she has written her story, and, wants a leading Director and 'All Star' cast for the film ! ! !
