Degrading Hardees Commercials
posted by Adam on 10:06 AM June 1st, 2004
The Media Josh N. writes "Recent Hardees® commercials depict men as too stupid to select a loaf of bread or open a cardboard tube of instant biscuits, while a narrator’s voice proclaims that “without Hardees®, some guys would starve…” Aren’t we all lucky that Hardees® is making sure that the men of America don’t die of starvation because they’re so stupid? Hardees® though, is not the only culprit. For example, another series of advertisements from Domino’s Pizza’s promoting their Philly Cheese Steak Pizzas show a group of men teasing a dog by summoning it with a bell (a parallel to Pavlov’s bell experiments) so that the dog comes in expectation of food, but instead is mocked as a “stupid dog.” A few seconds later, the doorbell rings, and all the men run to the door making panting dog sounds (another Pavlov draw, this time equating the men to dogs) and are greeted by a pizza delivery man who says “No drooling this time guys.” Thus the commercial first takes the time to establish the dog’s intelligence as “stupid”. It next makes the men behave like dogs, so an easy inference can be made by the viewer based on what they’ve established about dogs’ intelligence, that men are also stupid."

Perhaps there should be a list of companies on this website with quick links to stories like this so people tired of misandry can quickly decide which companies and stores not to buy from.

Not really a 'boycott' just a list of companies with links to stories here and elsewhere that inform consumers whether they want to shop at stores that have such negative ads.

As well I think this list could have the email and street addresses of these companies so you can inform them that negative ads like these make them lose customers.

This is something I have NEVER understood about advertisers.
Why in the Hell would you INTENTIONALLY INSULT your marketing target??!!?? I guess we stupid men are SO stupid we don't even know when we're being de-humanized, degraded and insulted.
Appearantly this is what Hardees and ALOT of other companies think.

This site links to a boycott list on the StandYourGround.com site. For each company there is a hyperlink to a story explaining why that company should be avoided in terms of male-bashing. Contact addresses (for complaints) might be a useful addition.

Advertising Agencies that solicit large national accounts seem to have taken on a very misandric tone. These agencies sell their ideas to marketing people at large companies. Many women are in marketing and advertsing and they push the ideas to fruition. It is clear that the influence of feminism has been strong here. Feminism intends to shape culture by controlling all mediums that deliver any message. It is simple. Women are to always be portrayed as confident, strong and smart/capable. Men are to get depicted as lazy, ineffective, sex starved, dumb or weak. Even TV sitcoms reflect this agenda (perhaps this is why reality TV is on the upswing?)

It is unclear to me why denigrating half of a population on a regular basis would create better sales for a company? Perhaps there is no such thing as bad advertising? - as long as the product gets pushed in the process.

I know I don’t support misandric advertisements, but most people are never encouraged to think of sexism towards men, and are tought to seek out anything remotely sexist towards women.

The Advertising agencies need to share the insults, or give up bashing men. This is the problem.

You can contact Hardees here

Domino's Pizza has a contact form here. You can also contact them at the following address:
Domino's Pizza LLC
Attn: Customer Care Center
30 Frank Lloyd Wright Drive
P.O. Box 997
Ann Arbor, MI 48106

A paper letter might make more of an impact than just e-mail would.

The weird thing I see in these misandrous and stupid commercials is that they seem to be aimed at men! Why would normal non feminized men buy this junk food artery clogging greasey crap if they are made to look like fools in the commercials aimed at them?

I personally have not gone into a Hardees in years (or MacDonalds for that matter)and these dumb commercials do not motivate me to change my buying patterns in this regard. And Dominos Pizza I can do without too.

Just how dumb can these advertising execs be?
