Again...Yahoo Puts Killing of a Husband in "Oddly Enough" Section
posted by Scott on 12:31 PM May 14th, 2004
The Media this is not equality writes "As we have come to expect from Yahoo..."A Portuguese woman confessed to murdering her husband and hiding his body in a kitchen freezer for three years." I realize that the freezer makes it a bit odd, but if the husband and wife were reversed, you can bet the story would not wind up in Oddly Enough."

The woman and her alleged accomplice were arrested on Sunday. A local court ordered her held under house arrest and her accomplice to report periodically to police.

What's up with that, the village wasn't big enough to have a jail?

Seriously though, if the genders had been reversed there would have been a much bigger splash.

I know...this blows me away...that's why I had to post this after reading it...I can't imagine what goes through the minds of the people at Yahoo News when they decide where to place a story. If it involves a dead or seriously maimed male, they must toss it into Oddly Enough automatically.

Not only that crap, but they never named her. She is a confessed murderer, her name is kept secret, and she is NOT in jail?

This story stinks.

It's from Reuters .... how do we track down who wrote it and contact them to let them know what we think?

Anyone know?

You can contact Reuters here.

On Google News, there are some related articles. The one titled "Dead hubby gets cold reception" identifies the woman as 31-year-old Maria da Conceicao Pereira. (Accessing the article without going through Google News requires registration.)
