Woman Fired for Sexual Harassment
posted by Adam on 02:26 PM March 25th, 2004
News hurkle writes "The tide slowly turns. Of course, this article about a woman getting fired for sexual harassment appears in Yahoo's Oddly Enough section, but it is clear that the PC world of do-nothing-nice-for-anyone-ever is now beginning to backfire on women. The way it's written, everyone involved seems slightly confused that this could actually happen. Hah! article"

COMPLETE SILENCE ....

No stats ...

No outcries and statistice ...

But the "reporter" DID ask the perpetrator to tell her side. And she joked about it.

I guess when the "reporter" (cough *bullshit* cough) called the sexual harassment experts ... let me guess ... the hotline was closed?!

1/3 of a page and no one to add comments except the woman who was fired. What a freaking surprise.

Fired for Complimenting Client's Good Looks
Mon Mar 22, 8:06 AM ET Add Oddly Enough - Reuters to My Yahoo!

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - A female receptionist in an office in south Sweden was sacked for sexual harassment when her employer heard she had complimented a male client of the company on his good looks, a Swedish newspaper reported Monday.

"I joked with a client about how handsome he was," the receptionist told the daily Sydsvenska Dagbladet. The man said he had not been offended by the woman's remark.

It is not uncommon in Sweden for women to accuse men of sexual harassment, but the opposite is rare.

The woman's employer declined comment, said the newspaper, which did not identify the company or the people involved.

I think it's absurd that this woman was fired for flirting with a client. She's a receptionist! I have the feeling some old and bitter PC feminists in HR didn't want a young female around who likes men. So they used their harassment toolbag to get rid of her. Just my guess, since I've seen it happen!

Yeah, I don't think she should have been FIRED, either.
A warning or even a light suspension but not FIRED.
Or am I just being to nice, again?

Yes it IS absurd and remarkably petty. Now if she had said "We need the business of men like you like a fish needs a bicycle" THAT to me would consitute "hostile enviornment sexual harrassment...in the real matriarchal world though it would have probably gotten her promoted to the position of personal executive assistant to the feminazi barracuda in human resources who fired her.I cannot immagine ANY sane sensible man firing her for this, even if the client complained.

Well... Yes. :-)

I see this in the same vein as suing bars for having Ladies' Nights. Zenpriest articulated the idea best. "The best way to kill a bad policy is to implement it enthusiastically."

Sexual harassment laws are going to stay just as they are as long as it's only men who are getting screwed. Plenty of men have been fired for a mere compliment. There is a professor in Canada who was raked over the coals because a co-ed accused him of staring at her at a public pool.

So, this instance is standard operating procedure for an accusation of sexual harassment. The only abberation is that the harasser is a women. If these same laws start being applied equally to women (who society apparently views as much more valuable than men), there will be a public outcry about how draconian and unreasonable they are and they'll be rolled back pretty damn skippy.

There was once a student at West Point who made BIG bucks from a book, movie rights, and law suit because he suffered orchestrated ostracism for two years.

At Mount Saint Vincent I suffered orchestrated ostracism for four years because an annonymous caller to student services accused me of raping her with my eyes...no I'm NOT making this up.

Maus.
That reminds me of that old law that said Black people could not even LOOK at Whites.
This of course was done to force Blacks to make a show of submission.
Sounds like the fembots want a new version of the same stupid law. I.E. Men can not even LOOK at women.

Correct me if I am wrong but Hoff Summers (or was it Daphne Patai - I think it was Summers) said she observed this "perception" also.

She was at a school and one feminist trained individual came up to her and said:
I just experienced a mini-rape. Some guy just looked at my legs

(I approximated what was said - it was from memory)

But I think the point is made. That the woman would even refer to it as "a mini rape" is ridiculous.

Stories like yours MAUS are far to common.

Or it could have been part of a theory of mine. I call it the Snow White Syndrome. It's just a personal observation of mine after many years of working at places with many female managers and department heads. Maybe some of you can let me know if you have observed this as well. I call it Snow White Syndrome because of that "mirror mirror on the wall" part. I believe that there are some (only a few as far as I can tell) female bosses that have to be the prettiest one in their department. The "fairest of them all" so to speak. These women will do whatever they can to get rid of women who threaten that. But as I said, it's only my own theory and you won't see it in any psychology journals.

The analogy is all too apt. Because once they give up on winning the "fairest of them all" race it doesn't seem to matter how ugly or revolting they get in order to aquire the POWER they then lust for in order to use in a mean spirited and vindictive way.
