Father forced to pay college tuition (Score:0)

Fathers,

Nothing new here. I was dragged into court in Missouri (with large attorney fees) in the late 1980s and was required to pay large support (beyound my means) payments for 2 children to attend college until they reached the age of 21 or graduated! My adult (18 years old) son at that time did not have the guts to stand on his own (with my pledge of support) and tell his mother to get lost. This all resulted in some of the worst years of my adult life and almost cost me the loss of a son!

Well, I suppose one way of handling this is to do nothing. Let this sort of abuse ruin the lives of hundreds of men. Or, you can choose to do something about it. Signing the petition is free. If you live in the Chicago area, you can attend the hearing. I think the more public awareness we have about this issue, the better.

"hundreds of men"?

This is only one small issue that has destroyed thousands or may hundreds of thousands.

What about all the other issues?

Hundreds of millions in this country over the past few decades would probably be more accurate (considering all the other issues too).

ick! What an awful story. People are so stupid! Apparently "the good of the child" only extends to the children of the mother. Let's look at this, he makes, we'll guess at $40k/year [double child support amoutn]. $20k/year goes to supporting those children, and another $6k goes to medical care of his new child, not counting any additional expenses of having a baby [it doesn't say if the new wife stays home with the infant, or if they have child-care of some sort]. Which leaves 14k/year. And now immediately $3.8k has to be taken from that, and will be added to until it reaches $8k. Leaving $6k/year to live on [which is even less than I live on! and my living expenses aren't that high]. Even if, let's say, he made 60k/year, he'd have 26k for three people to live on - not exactly rolling in it or anything.

Let's just not consider the implications of depriving a person of their paychecks for a month or so - they'll be fine! *heavy sarcasm*

who has the quote about the terrorists in black robes? we could use it.

On a note - my parents were told repeatedly by my college's financial aid office that submitting their tax information DID NOT MEAN they'd have to pay for college. Any loans I took out would be in my name, I'd be responsible for them. Etc. But apparently, if one's ex-wife decides their kid needs a college that charges $16,000 a year [or is this semester??] in tuition, both parents are responsible for it. What insanity.
[by the way, mine costs 1.3k/semester, my brother's .8k/semester. There's no reason her college has to be this expensive].

Hmmm,

Good comment however we forgot the 30% income tax from the 40k or 60k if he makes that much. That leaves him in poverty (or way below). . .so, so, common.

At this point in our feminist economy it is truely devistating to consider having children.

The only proven way to do this of course is not to date, which leads to relationships, which leads to marriage and family.

Can anyone argue that?

Tis sad, cruel, unnatural, and inhumane but one must face reality and the truth.

Live and learn

Look, let's be candid.

These self important tyrants in black sheets are nothing more than hired help; public services employees! They are NOT gods.

It is time to stop being concerned about the traditional hobgoblings at election time like that forever promised tax break, an education bill (pardon the unintended pun!) or even saving that lame social security scheme. We have got to start firing these buttholes at the ballot box! Future generations depend on it!

"Courts in New Hampshire have recently ruled that forcing divorced parents to pay for their children's college expenses is unconstitutional, citing the fact that parents from intact families cannot be legally compelled to provide the same assistance."

Well it looks like Illinois and New Hampshire have differing opinions. I think we are about to see more and more situations like this. Isn't New Hampshire the gay marriage state now? This stuff is going to get out of control. If it goes much further very bad things are bound to happen. Remember that little civil war we had a couple years ago, hence:

The Declaration of Independence was ratified in 1776, which clearly stated that people set up governments to protect their basic rights. All free and independent states have the full power to levy war conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce and to do all other acts and things which independent states may have the right to do. The people agreed to support the Declaration with a firm reliance on the protection of divine providence and each agreed to mutually pledge their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. Which means, under the Declaration of Independence states have the full right to succeed from the union.

Illinois (my glorious "free" home state) appears to be vying with California for the most corrupted-by-feminism legal system award.

Our recently elected State's Attorney General, Lisa Madigan, is an arch-feminazi.

She and her co-conspirators are working behind-the-scenes to set up a statewide special DV court track for male "batterers," that will further the already blatant terrorism directed against men and solidify the legal criminalization of maleness.

Any man in his right mind who resides in this fair state needs to be thinking about relocating his sorry ass before the hammer drops.

The vast majority of citizens are totally unaware that Illinois is fast becoming a Gulag for men.

Not a politician in sight has stood up to object to this tyranny.

Our climate already sucks, and now the legal atmosphere is being poisoned by a feminist cartel run wild.

The Caribbean is looking mighty attractive about now!

NH is not the "gay mariage" state. I believe you are referring to the recent court cases in Massachusetts. Regarding college tuition in NH, although the state Senate recently ruled divorced parents can't be forced to pay for college as in the past, child support can still be awarded through college as I understand it. Before the courts could award child support AND college tution.
