Back in 1989 or so I lived in the Washington DC area (Fairfax County), and I recall being at a nightspot in that county. I remember one young woman nearby shouting "bitch" to another, followed by a tussle that was complete with hair pulling. No more than several seconds later, the guys with them broke it up. Not cool behavior (on the part of the girls, that is).

Women are no better than men when it comes to fighting. Women tend to use words more, but will start fights for no reason other than what the person is wearing and tend to be far more jealous. I had many years of being subject to this sort of violence due to the fact that I was attractive to boys and they (the girls startingthe fights)were not. I actually had to start carrying a knife at one point to keep a group of girls from ganging up on me. Nothing like knowing your way around a butterfly knife to get people to back the heck off!
women also fight different than men. I think men tend to be more for show, fighting is done in such a way that the outcome is decided before anyone actually gets hurt.Men fight to win. Women fight to hurt the other person. They don't care about winning, they care about damage.
I completely am not suprised at this article. It is about time someone called these kind of girls on their behavior. When will people start seeing that women are just as violent as the men.

My god! I've seen a few fights between women, and more than a few between men, and I've been in some of the latter. But this has never really occurred to me before. In the fights between guys that I've seen (admittedly not gang warfare), the moment one of them said, "OK, you've got me," the fight was over. It would have been dishonorable for the guy, who was dominant, to keep punching. But in the girl fights, they'd try to tear each other's clothes off -- to humiliate each other. A black eye was pretty irrelevant. Having your shirt or pants ripped off mattered. Emotional damage.
You've hit on something here, my friend.

Not at all doubting this, my friends tell war stories about getting thrown out of bars, school, or nearly families for 'catfighting.'
The article seemed to bounce around blame for awhile, I noticed a push towards behaving like men in there - in an effort to not come off as demure and emotionally repressive. I think that is lapping at a larger issue, that feminism demands women act 'this way' in the misguided assumptionn that if you don't act violent, men will be towards you.
It also really fails to criticize this behavior, they want it to be considered the same as male violence in terms of seriousness, they don't want those icky old men to think it is just 'catfight' for male amusement. But they still want to be violent.
Woe betide the men who try picking up these lovely 'ladies.'

Here's just one more reason that bars suck.

I was watching one of the "caught on tape" shows, I believe that it was Real TV and they had a whole show dedicated to women 'misbehaving'. Some of the footage was from a security camera outside of a Las Angeles bar where women were really fighting tooth and nail.
A bouncer for the bar was interviewed and he claimed that the female patrons fight just as often as the male ones to. Here's the difference however. He stated that when he needs to break up males brawling, he risks getting bruises and black eyes and in a few days the signs of the fight are gone. When women brawl, they use nails, teeth and whatever objects nearby they can use as a weapon and the participants risk injuries that will scar them for life.

When old Uncle Gonzo was a bouncer, and a bouncer at strip clubs, the only time I had to break out the mace was for catfights.
