I admit I am a bit fuzzy on this subject as to specifics of law (and I know they are different state by state).
I am gonna say my piece, but if I am wrong, well, I think everyone here "knows" me well enough to know I try to get my facts staight. So if I misstate the law or make an incorrect assumption ... correct me: it will be taken with aplomb.
The fact that SHE got arrested is great. I am unhappy that a couple got into a fight that resulted in injury. I really am. Been there myself: on both sides. I always try to be honest in what I say, so I don't feel like I should change that now. Used to be an alcoholic, but it's in my past. My wife and I have a great relationship, but I did learn from my past. I bring this up because I think we should always have honest discussions.
Now this is the part I am fuzzy on. How come this woman was arrested on a MISDEMEANOR? From what I know about Alaska and Massachusetts law says that if an object that can cause further damage is used then it is no longer a misdemeanor but a felony. And then the story says she was RELEASED with no bail after ***12*** hours!? ACK!! See, here is my problem with this: Why is she being charged with only a misdemeanor and why was she released after only 12 hours? Was a restraining order issued? Usually the press mentions when one is issued. Where is the cry for her to "realize she is a DV batterer"? This article is pretty objective, I'll say that, but I also notice what IT DOES NOT SAY. After reading many many articles where the man is arrested, charged with a felony, issued a Restraining Order, and has to pay $X amount of money to get out (and sure as shit a bit more than 12 hours - gee thanks for the velvet gloves judge), there is the usual mention of a hearing for punishment and the questions about the prevelence of DV in the country.
Kinda nice Christian didn't get arrested, but still lacking in a little equal justice.
ACK!!

Good point. I think about how differently the law would have been applied if it had been Slater who was charged with gashing his wife's head in a domestic dispute. It's totally unfair and it needs to change.

Here's a thought....if anyone collects these articles on both sides, perhaps our new friend JimmyD can incorporate them in his paper....

Feminist trained domestic violence advocates go light on women and hard on men. That's pretty standard, after all they get their funding from the Violence Against Women Act. As we all know domestic violence law doesn't give a damn about stopping domestic violence. It's all about locking up men and getting more money to arrest more men. Like other successful businesses in America, you can only stay viable if you sell your product, in this case tyrannical injustice against men, and a wink of the eye at what is clearly felony assault by a woman.
Sincerely, Ray

Seems Slater is now claiming it was an accident AFTER it was found out she would go to jail.
Actually, what I think - ya'll remember David and Liza, how it was nonstop "What a pussy. Got beat up by a girl. What a pussy. Can't control his own wife. What a pussy. Homo. What a pussy. What a pussy." that Slater decided that it just wasn't worth it.

Coming to the aid of a poor weak defenseless woman who's been accused of battering her husband, how noble, how macho, how chivalrous. No doubt domestic violence advocates in California have gotten his ear, and put their spin on things, along with the femnist trained cops and judges. I'm sure the truth never had a chance from the begining.
I think I'll come out with a new brand of toilet paper next week. How does this sound for a brand name: CALIFORNIA JUSTICE. Directly below the brand name we could put (for males only). I think I'll try to find the cheapest lowest grade of paper I can find so it chafes the skin.
Of course a disclaimer will be needed. How's this: "If this paper doesn't burn your butt, then you've never been exposed to California Justice."
We'd never sell a role of the stuff, but you could give away cases of it in front of court houses, the state capitol, domestic violence workshops, dcss, etc.
Oh, and of course, the directions: Rub hard and wait for blood.
What would the end packaged product look like? A corncob wrapped in sandpaper (coarse grit).
Very, Very, Sincerely, Ray

Ray,
that was an outstanding post. I mean that. Well presented, well thought out, and makes ya chuckle. Outstanding. 2 points for Ray.
Peace
Steven
P.S. it WOULD be DAMN funny to have the CHUTZPAH to actually stand outside DIVORCE court and hand them out as free samples. It might get ya a fine, but tell me that (if you had the video of it) that it wouldn't be DAMN worth it! Guerilla Gender Warfare is just Hate Speech in polite text

That's actually a damn good idea. The toilet paper itself could be just plain ol' toilet paper, but the packaging could be customized.
I wonder how much it would cost to have some custom packaging printed up? (Similar to the paper-wrapping that Scot Tissue comes in.)

You know all scott wrapping is is a sheet of paper wrapped around the roll and tucked into the holes. Probably using a real thin large sheet of paper would print out a good wrapper, probably a print shop could make copies pretty inexpensively. Jen
