....in sports.
Otherwise, do guilt trips still really work?
And yes, it really is all Betty Friedan's fault.
And any woman I've ever known who has watched male sports did so because men had cute asses.
So until Fredrica Van der Wal makes a pro team....

Total agreement! When the women in sports look like something out of the swamp, it's dificult to watch, but my main reason is that I won't support women's sports in any way until they quit beating us over the head with Title IX bullshit. If the women in sports that are against Title IX can't or won't do anything about it, they can all just get lumped together (as men often are) and ignored as irrelavant to men's lives and entertainment...at least in THIS man's eyes. Disclaimer: Everything I post is of course my own opinion. If it seems harsh, Feminazis just piss me off!

I really enjoy women's in sports. In some sports (tennis and volleyball being the most noticable) the cadence of the men's sport at the highest level is too quick and doesn't produce as many satisfying rallies as the woman's game does.
I also enjoy watching high school sports, which isn't at the same level as the men's pros. I think it is a fair estimate that elite women are pretty comparable to high school men's in most sports (and I speak as a sports researcher, and the data backs this up).
Moreover, the values that are taught to women through women's sports are those we should be encouraging in women. Women's sports is NOT a misandronist culture. If you follow the career of the UConn women's basketball team (one of the greatest sports dynasties of our time, if you are missing it), and all the players speak incredibly lovingly of their male coach, Geno Auriemma.
I am an avid supporter of this website, but at times the membership is too quick to jump down all women's throats even when it is part a of virtuous culture. I agree that Title IX is a misguided legislation that is inherently unfair, but hate the legislation and not the wonderful athletes who have benefitted.
I'd write more, but I have to catch a Detroit Shock game (and if you can't enjoy watcing Swin Cash, Ruth Riley, and Cheryl Ford hoop it up, then you aren't a real sports fan)

Jack Nicholson likes to attend WNBA games, but that's probably because he's still into fast women. Other than that, what good is it? It's all part of the "anything you can do, I can do better" school of thought. Except, being clueless, they chose one of the things that women DON'T do better than men: Sports.
The average woman in her 20s has the same cardiovascular throughput as the average man in his 50s. Figure it out.

...for the same reason I watch men's sports: the game is on. That's all.
Talk about Title IX, that's fine. Discuss Suzy Whaley (sp?) and the charge that she got a special entry into a men's golf tournament that a man wouldn't get. Fine. But I don't see the point of ridiculing ALL female athletes.

I ridicule the thought that ANY female athelete can compete in a sport designed for the male physique and muscular structure with men. It's patently absurd.
I go to the gym twice a week. While I am a big guy, and no weenie, if I decalred I was the strongest man there, the howls, hoots, and catcalls would resound to Dallas, Texas.
But I am by far and away the strongest woman, and I'm just a part-timer on the workouts.

I watch collegiate women's soccer matches occassionally. I enjoy watching the same significantly. The women play well and with enthusiasm. The women players are, often, very attractive. The same women's college sports encourages fair play, tolerance, and comradeship in my opinion. I was on the University of Texas Varsity Mens Soccer Team C.V. Compton Shaw

Men don't watch women's sports for many of the same reasons women also don't watch women's sports. The women just aren't that good and fun to watch.

Here's the link (no spaces) of what it takes to get me to watch women's sports, but am I really watching the game? Hummmm?
