I'm not the greatest speller in the world, but why do most fathers'/men's rights websites have so many damn spelling errors? It makes them look so unprofessional.
Speaking of looking unprofessional: Compare www.fathers.ca to www.owjn.org and wonder why a lot of fathers' rights groups are not taken seriously.
And yes, I probably made an error somewhere above... ;)
I love feminism!

I agree. And what is with the ultra-large 36-48 font text? Why do so many men's sites think that a single word should be so large as to extend the entire width of the screen? I appreciate and fully support what they are doing, but it would be nice to see a more professional look to most of these sites.

I agree many men's rights sites look unprofessional if not illiterate. Unlike women's groups, men's groups don't get government funding to pay professional web designers, and most of the idle educated floating around universities and government bureaucracies (and therefore with "free" access to IT resources) are leftists/feminists.
cheers,

I think it also has to do with the fact that a lot of these men are the breadwinners from a very young age and therefore cannot get a good education. I'm not saying that longtime breadwinners cannot be educated -- I know many who are -- but you guys know what I mean... I love feminism!

Ive only been on the web for a short time but one of the funniest things ive come across is this notion that some how spelling is an indication of education or intelligence.I have seen countless discussions were the first thing opponents jump on is mispelled words. Its a simple case of impatience or not being used to arguing with a keyboard,i make lots of spelling mistakes but i simply go back and correct them, that is when there noticed.

My fault for not making myself clear. I was responding to Smoking Drive's comment about feminist sites being run by academics and those of that sort. All I was trying to say is that some of these fathers' rights people are not as well versed in presenting their side in a more professional manner -- often because they never had the chance to benefit from certain aspects of higher education. I don't think spelling has anything to do with intelligence, and I'm sorry if I made it sound that way. Heck, I'm not very good at spelling. I love feminism!

It's pathetic and inexcusable. Not only is it trivial to copy text to a word processor for spell checking before publishing, most Web design tools like Dreamweaver and FrontPage have spell checkers.

Then why don't you mail them offering to correct their mistakes? If they're so obvious, it can't be so hard, and you would be giving a valuable cooperation to the movement.
