Have they any plans to ensure women make up 50% of garbage collectors?

We are joking about that but I'm convinced that even this kind of quotas will come eventually.

Yes, they plan to enact those quotas immediately after collecting garbage is all mechanical, (no stepping out of the truck required), and both the cans and trucks are sealed so that they don't give off any odors. At that point of course they'll be no going over the limit with a bag outside the bin if the collector in your neighborhood is female, since it would be very low class to "make" her lift that heavy, smelly trash bag into the truck herself, not to mention sexist in some way that the feminists will explain to us when the time comes.

The French equivalent of the Congress and of the House of Representatives are now to be strictly 50/50 in the coming years. This law is now a part of the French constitution and was adopted three years ago.

So this time we are really facing the end of patriarchy. But at the same time, it is also the insurance there will never be such a thing as matriarchy.

For female supremists, this is not necessarily good news.

It has always been surprising to me that with a Congress almost quasi-exclusively male, men's rights have been so poorly examined and totally neglected.

I think that once the 50/50 will be carried out, men's rights are going to be much more highlighted by the elected people, because this quota will help male politicians to become more aware of the gender they are belonging to. And male politicians will also be sure to be elected whatever they say concerning gender issues thanks to quotas. So they could have a masculist discourse at last, as they wouldn't depend on women's votes any more to get elected.

As far as I'm concerned, I think there is no use to fight against these 50/50 quotas. What we must do is rather focus on :

- not enough male teachers, therefore not equal opportunities for boys.
- life expectancy gap : totally unfair, because men are not being made aware of the medical tests they have to undergo if they want to remain in good health, and this unlike to women. Health-related expenses are furthermore more in favour of women.
- law schools and medical schools : more women than men. If we follow the feminist doctrine, it can only be because of discrimination against boys, so 50/50 quotas are also to be implemented in these fields.
- joint custody of the kids must become mandatory to end sexism against fathers.

It is no use to fight about the fields where men are dominant ; it is the numerous fields where men are not equal to women that we must focus on.

In India too (Score:0)

In India, at the local govt level, we already have one third of the official positions reserved for women, and it's likely to happen at state and national level too. A bill amending the Indian Companies Act is before Parliament which if passed will introduce special qoutas for women on the boards of all joint stock companies. At the local govet level, the disillusionment has already set in. A recently conducted study revealed that women politicians at that level can be as corrupt and inefficient as their male counterparts. Corruption cases against officials of two city municipalities involve several female politicians. So greater partcipation of women in the political process might also help dispel the `bad men, good women' myth. And that's started to happen here in India.

Like with all quota systems, the only possible reason for set-asides is because they aren't good enough to compete for the positions on their own merits.

The game isn't rigged. They just aren't good enough to win, so they have to cheat to win.
