Education Chas writes "'Helping boys catch up is a brilliant idea' by Ross Fitgerald is published in "The Australian" newspaper of 22 May 2003. It catalogues the ways in which boys have been educationally disadvantaged in the past three decades. Fitgerald describes federal government initiatives to address the problem following a 2002 House of Representatives survey of boys' education. In 2004, 30 cluster school zones will be established across Australia to improve boys' education. Each cluster will contain a Lighthouse school to champion best practice in boys' education. Funding of up to $60,000 will be provided to the Lighthouse school to develop, facilitate and implement a professional development program for teachers in a cluster of surrounding schools. Each cluster will be required to evaluate its programs in boys' education and its professional development activities under the Lighthouse project."

Up here instead of acknowledging this as the critical problem it is, all we hear is how girls are just naturally more intelligent than boys and similar sleeze oozing through feminist channels and out educators mouths. American education is an oxymoron... run by just plain morons.

It is good to see something resembling good news, though I think I'd much rather pretend the problem did not exist.
